Rooney wants to be the go-to striker: Believe it! And the Gaffer wants to make him happy: Believe it!
    The Quick Team:

    EVDS/Foster

    Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra

    Fletcher

    Valencia, Anderson, Nani

    Rooney Macheda

    The Berbatov XI:

    EVDS/Foster

    Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra

    Park, Gibson/Hargreaves, Giggs, Valencia

    Rooney
    Berbatov

I really expect Owen to be Mr. Supersub Stiker!!!

    Rooney, Macheda

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

He's said he'll play Rooney through the middle and Berba farthest up top from now on. Do you think he kept dropping back coz Fergie told him too? Putting Rooney just behind Berbatov meant that we'd stifle Cristiano, but now he's gone we can focus on the strengths of the other players.

The "push the full backs up for width" principle we adopted with Evra and Oshea had us conceding 2 goals  We'd definitely need a proper Holding mid for that

O'Shea just isn't a good enough full back for that sort of role. If we had a Maicon or Dani Alves then we could begin to adopt it, but why have so many wingers if we're gonna begin to use a more central formation?

I agree with Ri'shard and bobotonto. And Dani Alve's would be good too, he's a good pas'ser from Bar'celona. Also, Fletcher can be brilliant at a defen'sive midfielder po'sition, but that formation wouldn't allow for the evolution of Ander'son.

jesus if gibson is ever used as a defensive midfielder we might as well play 5 across the back for insurance and play route 1

You don't have to know lots of chords to play songs that matter

no no no I don't want Giggs to play in centre.. (see the effects in UCL Final..)
why don't play Brown in centre since stats shown that we're good WITHOUT Ferdy??

mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

Get rid of Ferdinand for calamity Brown? The Bean has some of the rashest tackling skills I've ever seen for a defender. Jonny Evans is easily the next best central defender we've got, but I can't see any ousting of Rio happening any time soon.

Giggs playing in central midfield wasn't the main downfall in the final, it was a culmination of tactical mistakes including that decision. He played valiantly in the middle against Premier League opposition so I can't see why he won't be able to do it again.

True, it's just I can see Fergie laughing of both suggestions if they were proposed to him. The 14 game streak of clean sheets may have been done largely without his presence, but it doesn't mean the team is better off without him. Ask any forward in the league if they'd rather face Rio or the Bean and the majority of answers would fall on Browns shoulders.

Actually guys, would it be worth playing WES BROWN as a defensive midfielder, he's perfect for it, I mean how man times has he been exposed to an onslaught of attackers when he was playing on the same wing as Ronaldo?

Carrick works for me in Europe, but we've got a big fucking gaping hole in the middle that was shown when we had our heads handed to us by Barca and the Scum. It's called tackling Hamburg and the pressure for Hargreaves to produce right away will be enormous. Until we buy a REALLY good intelligent holding midfielder it's imperative to have both Ando and Fletchao out there. Wes Brown's is injury prone, but twice the athlete Johnny O'Shea will ever be. All you can question about Wes is his intelligence. His decision making vis-a-vis tackling is horrendous. His play at right back in 2007-08 was sometimes fantastic, although his crosses were inconsistent. He's way too dense to be a holding midfielder, though.
