How the hell did that happen!? The manager had his tactics wrong from the start, Giggs passing was non existent (tho he made the two goals) we should have had Berba and Rooney up front from the start, none of this crap about Arsenal controlling the midfield if we didn't have 5 players there, because Giggs didn't really play in midfield, he just floated about between midfield and striker and sprayed all of his passes straight into the feet of Arsenal players, he takes way too long to move the ball on and lost it numerous times. Fletcher was amazing, his closing down was perfect, Carrick was as disappointing as Giggs. I thought Nani worked surprisingly hard and deserves some credit for his performance and Rooney was given the thankless task of target man and when Berba came on, the two of them played excellent together for the short time he was on. NO MORE 4-5-1!!!!!!! we can't do it anymore without Ronaldo!

this is a funny, nani seems to perform well against arsenal.
wow, man utd should give him a chance -

LOL but who cares ??
We couldnt string two passes together and that 4-5-1 should be left for European matches not BPL. You cant compete with passing sides like Arsenal and Barcelona by trying to defend. IN ARSENAL, WE TRUST !

I CARE because we should have gotten beat badly, it was just down to pure luck we didn't I think 4-4-2 would have been much better, with one striker dropping deep at a time as usual. We've got to stop trying to change our team to systems our players can't perform in, I bet SAF will keep on doing it now though, he feels vindicated now by this result.

Bob, I think you've got it right, more or less. We were mostly jammy yesterday although Fletcher, Wazza, Vidic and Evra threw their bodies about heroically. Giggs had a bad bad day, but somehow seemed to be a magnetic force, forever attracting the ball, his passes finally getting through despite his obvious exhaustion in the second half. As impressive as Fletcher was, he was still weak whenever he attempted the long pass. Minimalism is the name of the game for him. But, of course, what was he supposed to do when Carrick seemed intent on being the 12th Gooner? Fletcher heroically tried to do two jobs at once, but he's no superman. We certainly saw the best and worst of Ben Foster. You can use all the hyperbole about Arshavin you want--and, truly, my heart was in my mouth every time the little Russki got the ball--Foster should have stopped that shot. I'm reading a lot of nasty stuff about Nani on the blogs, but, really, he worked very hard for the team for the team and seemed just a few beats off clicking. Give him a break! As somebody pointed out to me yesterday, if it took Fletcher six seasons, then it's only common sense to give Nani and Anderson lots more time. I'm not sure I agree, but they'll get plenty of opportunities between now and January.
I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!! -

nani was actually fairly decent yesterday, put in a fair aul shift on the left.beautiful ball for berba with the outside of his right foot too at the end.valencia was very dissapointing.i honestly dont know how carrick is a professional footballer, let alone a midfielder.absolutely atrocious.giggs got away with it too with those 2 assists.the need for scholes yesterday was astonishing

To be honest both sides were poor in the match. Lost track of the amount of times that both sides lost the ball and not because of tackles and interceptions just rather constant misplaced passes. Also there was no rhythm to the game as the ref blew (rigthly or wrongly) for free kicks every 30 seconds. Was definitely not a classic that's for sure.

Well,Wise Monkey, you can call it football-vs-anti-football, if you want, but, as with Barcelona, you can't beat Arsenal in a toe-to-toe punch-up. Arsenal's weakness, aside from exquisite flashes from Arshavin and Fabregas, is that Wenger eternally trains them to walk the ball into the net. Ferguson does not need a crystal ball. United looked just like opponents for the first 35 minutes or so and it was quite pretty in that Gooner doit-doit-doit Playstation FIFA Soccer kind of way. When United utilised more physical tactics against a far taller team, they did what had to be done to win. Once again, Arsenal caved under pressure. Not a classic, to be sure, but very entertaining.

Man utd luck was absolutely working in the game. Arsenal are physically more stronger than man utd. Utd are missing Ferdinand and Neville at the back. brown was just playing his 3rd match in last 10 months but he tried.I hate to say but it was a penalty not given to Arsenal. Giggs really had a poor poor day giving his passing to gunners and unable connect passes.Berba as shit as always. he is not able to handle big match pressure. Good show by Nani and Rooney.

forget the arshavin penalty shout,if they had gotten the penalty he wouldnt have scored that goal less than a minute later,so the score still would have ended the same

Nani should have scored, 2 chance in a matter of seconds and he could not bury it. Oh well, if Walcott was playing, Nani and Evra will have a real hard time.

Bobotonto- Do you think Fergie got his tactics right then by saying that? The way I see it, Man Utd were very lucky to win and score two as Rooney was left so isolated upfront and Utd attacking threat was unusually impotent. Everyone seems agree that Giggs had a poor game you wonder whether he can still cut it against the big teams. Utd didn't really look that dangerous.
Also I don't agree with Wenger either in saying that utd were overtly physical, both sides were. Arsenal got six yellow cards! Thought it was poor from both sides.

Didn't see the match. Arshavin might just have a great season ahead of him, though!

Well, if everyone was play "beautiful" football like him then no one would win!
it is like rock, scissors and paper, you have to stop or beat the other team by another way right?
England plays route 1 football, and so does Bolton a few seasons back. is that anti-football?
hell, why did Wenger not mention how Eboue "dived"?
-
Posted 2 months ago #
because he didnt see it of course
-
Posted 2 months ago #
Wenger can't say anything about hacking, remember when nani did his little juggle, Arsenal players were kicking lumps out of him for the rest of the game. I was worried when Eboue looked to be injured, it would have meant someone who isn't as crap as him would have replaced him
-

Wenger is a hypocrite, quite simple.
-
Posted 2 months ago #
Another reason for it being a crap game is that both sides had so many injuries

Another reason for watching the Inter match instead of this one
Well worth it.

the Milan derby was shite. imagine your captain getting into sliding tackles just to save the side from goals? probably one of the least contested Mialn derby i have seen.

It's a cliché, but you make your own luck. Arsenal were the better flair team on the day, but are just not psychologically tooled for making comebacks when they get knocked back. United's problems are clear for all to see. I really can't see how this midfield can succeed in the ECC, but the Gaffer ought to be able to paper over the obvious cracks enough to win by a nose over Chelsea's smaller squad. One thing's for sure: If Rooney gets injured, United are fucked! I was quite impressed by Giggsy, actually. Despite having a disastrously bad day and looking knackered early, he still hung in there and got the job done. Compare that with Nani and Valencia, who both looked markedly aenemic!

I dunno about us being fucked without Rooney, Owen and Berba have a mighty five partnership going.
-
Posted 2 months ago #
Rooney is the creative outlet, though, without Ronaldo, and if he got injured then you'd have a bunch of "partnerships" but nobody to connect them.
-

Thats where we really needed someone like Sneidjer, or Silva

Funny how all of you keep saying Giggs had a poor game yet none of you consider his age and the fact that he was playing against technically better AND younger opponents. Credit to Giggs for setting up the penalty & the dodgy own goal. Have some respect.
Also, why would Wenger mention Eboue's dive. Isn't it every manager's duty to protect their own player's regardless of their actions? Would you hear Ferguson complain about Rooney's & Ronaldo's antics. Funny how you lot are trying to seize the higher moral ground after Ronaldo has been sold.
And finally, FACT: Darren Fletcher is an absolute utter CUNT.
-
Posted 2 months ago #
heh, you win some you lose some. At times we dominate games and could not win. well i guess our chance was in that game and we won against all odds.
-
Posted 2 months ago #
FACT: Song is there to do the exact same job as Fletcher, so he is CUNT aswell
FACT: Eboue dived to get Evra sent off... CUNT
FACT: Eduardo is a diving CUNT
FACT: Ronaldo got hacked to death every game, he can be forgiven for diving
FACT: Arsenal players just kicked lumps out of Nani after his little juggle in the FA cup
FACT: Rooney is more honest a player than any of your dirty ars scum
FACT: Darren Fletcher got wrongly sent off in the CL semi final against your diving captain Fabregras... CUNT
FACT: It isn't ever managers duty to protect their players despite their actions, they should be punished when they cheat, Rangers fined Kyle Lafferty after he got Charlie Mulgrew wrongly sent off against Aberdeen
FACT: Ronaldo isn't our player anymore so the moral high ground on diving is ours to take

Look at you getting all pumped up over Fletcher being a cunt. It's okay. We all know he is more of a cunt than a footballer.
So you say Rooney is more honest than all the Arsenal players combined? Well, take a look over here and you decide.

And am I hearing this right, assuming what you are saying is right(I am not stating it is), just because Ronaldo got hacked every game, he had a god given right to dive? Reminds me of last season after the 2-1 win against Hull in the FA Cup, where Fagbregas were accused of spitting and the Hull City Chairman was quoted saying that spitting is worse than breaking someone's leg. Bonkers.
