   What's interesting here is that so many people who criticised Lampard for 'holding the club ransom' failed to realise that he's been through quite a lot in recent months with the death of his mother and then coming back right after that to finish off the season. It takes a lot out of a person and surely that's one of the reasons that's contributed to the delay in signing the new contract.

   But like Brown with United, ultimately the club has given in a bit and given Lampard the contract he wanted and one that should put him on par with Terry (or somewhere around that), and it's what he deserves for his service to Chelsea FC.

   Have to agree with the 'strongest squad' bit as well, although as I've always said, it's the best team and not the best XI that wins the league.

   yeah so happy, finally, I knew he would sign. But why did he want a five year contract? Can he go strong like giggs or scholes (33) by that time?

   Meh, not too sure about this. Don't get me wrong, Lampard is a massively important player but how the hell adn are Deco, Ballack, Lampard, Essien and Mikel going to play - another team with absolutely no width? Spells trouble to me - we need wingers not central midfielders - we won the prem with top class winders in Robben and Duff and then Robben/Duff with Cole, as soon as we went narrow we lost it - while at the same time Ronaldo and Rooney came into their own on the wings.thoughts?

   That's why Robinho is coming in.

   Scolari will make Chelsea play well, don't worry about it

   You don't need strikers. Just play a revolving diamond of midfielders and, like when we were seven and eight, Mr. Scolari will make sure everybody makes nice and can take turns kicking the ball while learning a few phrases in Portuguese. Should be very entertaining. Next year, when the new kiddie, Kaka, comes, everybody will have a good giggle at his funny name. Little Joey will be so miffed that he'll do a big #2 in the sandbox and call for Mr.Ramos to come get him.

   well, RIGHT now we need at least one striker, Robihno would do it. Pizzaro is off to werder Bremen, kalou at the olympics, sheva has had a groin surgery, and drogba has a knee problem. So we need at least one striker to play alongside anelka. My candidates Martins, Yakubu (Would be expensive), and Niang.

    Players from the same league wont come cheap, though, xerxes..dunno y u want Niang...my advice wud be Muhammad Zidan, Egyptian striker, saw him at the ACN...I think he plays for Hamburg or Werder Bremen...not sure..!

    yeah I know about zidan he is in HSV, he is ok, but whats wrong with niang? He was once a United target as well.

    Nah..dun think so, I took it from a friend's album at orkut..! Why..cant understand it..it has Drogba and Sheva staring at the trophies we won in '99..and the records of the teams who've won the BPL and saying 'How the FUCK did they do that ?'

    not a fan of bashing ashley cole - he's not the brightest footballer but he hasn't done anything to deserve the abuse he gets.

    but I suppose it's funny to those who hate him
