Some ppl would say it makes you look like a loser, cos you have to put on the jersey of a footballer you admire in order to seem like someone of note...other people say it looks sophomoric

    Your thoughts?

Ibra's Abracadabra will help Barca win their second Treble, and Eto'o will revitalize Inter Milan!!

Funny thing: I never have a name on the back of my shirt. That way, I do not preted to be Wayne Rooney, I just let everyone know that I admire the team he plays for.

Having "Ronaldo" inscribed on the back of your shirt officialy makes you a poser. Football is a game for everyone and whenever you play you should just be yourself. Young, promising talents say that a lot when they are being called "the next Zidane", but nobody listens to them.

Also, paying 30 quid to advertize AIG wherever you go is also stupid. Wake up!!! Instead of them paying you to advertize their brand, you are paying them to advertize their brand. It is ridiculous. Nonetheless, I still own ONE Manchester United jersey.

    Cue the Nani jokes...

People do it to make themselves look impressive among friends. I have a fake old ManUtd jersey with Vodafone written on the chest. It's sorta fun but it can be cool to play wearing jerseys to show ur love for the club.

Manutdfan, I'm glad you have a Bayern shirt, well done

but anyways, I agree, wearing the jersey with no name on the back is supporting the club, not being stupid...

What? I didn't foul him, I just nudged him a bit

I have a van Nistelrooy shirt, a ManU shirt (why, I don't know; the Chelsea shirt cost 40 euros), and a Karel Poborsky shirt (a vacation to the Czech Republic).

I like to wear my Newton Heath replica shirt in public, my Keano shirt at matches or in the pub and am always looking for anything interesting on ebay. There can be a down side, though. A couple of years ago, when I was working in Manhattan, I had on an old McGrath shirt and got spat on by a couple of drunken Scousers, one of whom was so shitfaced that he pissed in his keks when I called him a toerag.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

i have the new united jersey from lets see 03-08/09 it is about six of them..... i only do it because the money goes to support the club. AIG spends 42 million pounds to get there name there.nike gets 40 percent of the sales money. so united gets about 25 quid per jersey..... if all 300 million fans gave 25 quid a year that would be 7.5 billion pounds a year in revenue.

foster - you want to factor in the cost of manufacturing as well? :)

AIG spent 60m for 4 seasons, that's 15m / season from sponsor money btw.

lets see, i got Cech (Gk) jersey, The yellow away jersey, Drogba for chelsea jersey, Karimi of Bayern Jersey, Real training Jersey, Torres for Spain jersey, Nery Castillo for mexico jersey, Martins for Newcastle jersey, Shevchenko for Chelsea jersey and Totti for Italy Jersey. So from my point of view I find it not wrong to wear a jersey in public. Be proud and support your sport.

"RicardoQuaresma" i totally respect your thread dude, but, i think these people reaction and answers to your question are totally bullshit! What the fuck is wrong with you people? What's wrong with wearing your idols name on your back? I'm one of the biggest C.Ronaldo fans out there. I have his 03-04, 06-07, 08-09 Man Utd jersey and i just ordered his 09-10 madrid jersey. Plus i've also ordered a Berbatov Man Utd jersey cause i'm a Man U fan, and just to make it clear I AM NOT GAY, plus there's nothing gay or weird about wearing your idols name on your back. It's cool and it shows that your a proud club and player supporter. So FUCK ALL OF YOU WHO ARE AGAINST IT, you're all total idiots and you should be ashamed of yourselfs.

I collect footy shirts from around the world, so I've got Czech Republic, Peru, Thailand, Vietnam, along with the ones I'm proud to wear anytime which would be my England home shirt and my Liverpool shirts.

But I don't get names on the back...not because I feel like a poser or anything, but 1) its more expensive and 2) I like it blank, it IS more personal IMO

Think I remember reading an article recently saying that clubs earn around £16 per shirt after all costs.

I buy footy shirts if there's a spare bit of money in the bank. I've got Vidic on the blue away kit from last year and I love it, there's no reason u can't get their names on the back. There's no shame in declaring who your favourite player is, it's a tribute to them if anything.

Haha thats commitment! You always buy a shirt in the knowledge that players rarely will always be at that one club, especially today, so it's nothing that should come into your concern unless you bought it a week before Ronaldo left. Then I'd deffo try n get my money back
