Michael Carrick has won three consecutive league titles with Manchester United in his first three seasons along with a European Cup and League Cup. He has certainly lived up to his £16m price-tag, being an integral part of all three league championship triumphs. But how will he be remembered ? Will he be remembered in the same league as Roy Keane ? Is he a midfield general ? He is one player I like..but still dont like at some times for ManUtd! He is hardly a player who can change games with the ball (although he has the ability to with one killer pass). I really really liked him before the start of the 2009/09 season, rated him very highly. But during that season, in some matches, he just completely failed to shine, especially in big games and I'm not just talking about the Champions League final, I'm not one of those guys who jumps on a player's back after just one match. My point is that can he be as influential at United and be mentioned in the same league as Keane, Pirlo, Vieira, Essien who could change the match even at their worst day out......

he really needs to have a cracker of a season this year and cement his place for capello's world cup squad,if he does and he dazzles in the world cup then perhaps u cld put him in the same league as keane/viera,but at the moment id say he's jst another ordinary, overrated, overpriced english player like we see so often.

god hes nowhere near keanos league.fletcher is a better player imo.carrick, while having the ability to play a good pass, has very poor decision making.he takes far too long to decide what to do.theres also the problem that he is terrified of all physical battles, ive seen him bottle 50-50s way too often.me and a friend have been slaughtered(still putting up a fight though  ) for criticising him on the official united forum, and he deserves it tbh.hes so far away from the level required to be a top player, and hopefully wont be first choice anymore this season.like scotgun said, ordinary, overrated and overpriced

Fletcher is the man ,i'm hoping for a big performance from him tonite when we take on norway,he hasnt always carried his united form into the national side but he's got the extra responsibility now fergusons gone.

even though i dont like man u i think Carrick is a decent player, i remember his west ham days alongside lampard and joe cole.. he's definitely better than Flethcher... but i agree he needs to have a few match winning moments which i feel this season will be possible for him and every other man u player

If Ferguson ever decides to buy a midfielder of true hard man quality, it would transform the input of Carrick and Anderson. Neither Anderson nor Fletcher are natural enforcers.

Carrick is average and inconsistent, and he will never uphold the status as Roy Keane did.
he needs to have lighting quick decision ability to do whenever the ball is pass to him so he can apply to pass the ball accurately since he can pass well.

He was never bought to replace Keane. He is a deep-lying attacking midfielder, similar in styule to Andrea Pirlo. United's single biggest problem is that neither Anderson nor Fletcher is a replacement for Keano. The fact is that, even if we buy a player like DeRossi or Hernanes, no one can even come close to Keano or Bryan Robson's 'status'.

If Ferguson wasn't so stubbornly in love with Darren, he'd have bought someone to protect Carrick. He's not my favourite, but who else can pass as well as him in the EPL? Stephen Ireland? Cesc Fabregas? I keep hearing what a load of shite Anderson and Carrick are...

Hola hey, what if Carrick plays on the wing? Would any of you ManUtd fans like to guess as to what would happen? As I remember, he is a fantastic crosser of the ball, so I doubt he'd be a failure on the wing. He is obviously moulded as a playmaker type, but I think he might work on the wing. What do you all think?

Wingers have to take a lot of stick and he's pretty gutless. Not quick enough, either.

He's obviously a playmaking passer, but with his crossing...maybe he should simply venture out onto the wing more often.

if its for the reserves, then let him go out wide as often as he wants.but NEVER for the first team.preferably,id like to see him play in a further forward midfield position.....for newcastle.as for him being a top passer, why he doesnt use it anywhere useful i have no idea.its pretty pointless using your "brilliant" passing ability knocking the ball over to the full backs 10 times a game

as for the title, whats to say he will be remembered?i dont think its possible to comprehend how much i HATE michael carrick

michael carrick is Just a DECENT player, nothing more, a simple midfield passer type, who can sometimes attain a divine form when he onnects real good killer balls dat cut thru defences, and some good interceptions, but oderwiswe an average midfield player, ANDERSON will bcome a far bettr player than him, n he's certainly not overrted

julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.
