It's unfortunate that united will probably not be able to keep ronaldo. It shows that real madrid are still the biggest club in the world..despite ac milan and united being the most succesful over the past decade. However this situation might just turn out to our advantage. Here's how:-
We keep ronaldo here at OT for the next 2 yrs.Isn't impossible and isn't that difficult. The way ronaldo's market and brand value is right now madrid would still be as interested 2 years later. We arrange a player+money deal for ronaldo with Sneijder coming the other way. It's bad to have two ronaldo's in the same team. Two mainly solo players who take on the opposition on their own running down the flanks would mean less of passes and more of individual play. The ideal patnership down the wings is a player just like ronaldo..pacy..skillful with a player who is a fantastic passer and a hard worker, is a good striker of the ball and can take on the defence when he needs too. Sneijder is a fantastic player who has everything mentioned above.Ronaldo and Sneijder would be an ideal combo. Unfortunately..we can only have one of them.
BUT,We have a ready-made replacement for ronaldo in our squad.Compare ronaldo's 1st seasons at united with Nani's.Yes..nani's had some really bad games but he's been really good at others either and he's shown everyone that's he's got fantastic technical ability.Ronaldo was just like him in his early seasons..the overabundance of talent and the wastage. With time he gained maturity and learned how to utilise his talent.Nani needs about 2-3 seasons to get too that stage. After that he would be..okay maybe not as good as ronaldo but atleast 70% as good.I would say that if both playing styles remain same over the next 3-4 years and nani undergoes a change like ronaldo did..Nani would be a better crosser. Both would be equally good at taking defenders on and ronaldo would pip nani thanks to his superior ariel prowess and positioning. Okay there's a chance nani might not achieve the hieghts ronaldo has but i still believe that nani would be one of the best wingers in the world in a few years to come.
A mature Nani and Sneijder would be a fantastic combo. Madrid are so desperate to have ronaldo they would probably agree to the player+money deal with Sneijder going the other side.recently the media speculated about such a deal and Sneijder said he wants to stay at Madrid. But he won't want too stay at a club that doesnt want him and it be in his best interests and move to united.
All this has a good chanceof happening.So..the ronaldo situation might not be so heartbreaking afterall!

yes but real even said that next year this money won't be on the table. if ronaldo ever leaves, its this season. and as much as i would love wesley sneijder on man utd, he isn't going to join. if SAF doesn't sell ronaldo now, then man utd will have terrible chemistry. there isn't much more to debate anymore..

That's just a ploy by real to pressure ronaldo to join them as soon as possible. Do you honestly think that Real's money will disappear next season? We're talking about real madrid here..the only ones who can rival chelsea with their transfer budget.Last season how many millions worth of signing did they make? Let's see..they singed Pepe from Porto for what was it..30 million dollars? Then they bought sneijder from ajax and metzelder...both of them big money moves, not to mention robben and heinze.Reyes made his deal permanent. There was also Dudek and perhaps a few more players who i cant remember now. This would amount to atleast 90million spent in one summer alone. There going to have the money available..there is no doubt in my mind

Fetehsmann I agree with you. But Sneijder isnt willing to join United even though it is apparent that Real prefer Ronaldo to him. If Real dont buy Ronaldo this year, he will surely join them the following year. No doubt about that.

I think that if Man U sell Ronaldo it will be a benefit rather than a loss why? Simple, Nani can and could very well be the next Ronaldo and in my very personal opinion even better and also, if given enough playing time and proper training Anderson, can also be the next brazilian wonder in the likes of Ronaldinho. Not to mention all the other boys that SAF has acquired. I think if these players are given the chance to prove themselves and without Ronaldo's shadow over them, they can carry man u to another champions league trophy and in the next couple of seasons, Ronaldo will nothing but a faint memory in Man u's fans.

It's true, it'd be better if Ronaldo left. Real always do unsettle the people they want. Ruud, Beckham, Heinze, apparently the fitness coach last year as well and now Ronaldo. I hate it when people say it's a step up right now. How exactly?
It's inevitable, he WILL leave United because its about the money with him, not commitment, thats what I don't understand because he is what he is because of United's backroom staff and most importantly, SAF.
No doubt, Nani will be better in a few seasons, and if he's anything like Ronaldo is right now, I bet Real would do the same in a few years' time. Anderson is also very talented and from what I've seen so far, he looks like a replacement for Scholes but has more attacking talent.
All Real want Ronaldo for is the merchandising. Ofcourse, he'll play a few good games for them but in the end he will end up like Beckham or Ronaldinho. I don't even care anymore. I say the sooner he goes the better because United can ask for more right now whereas in a couple of years, you never know.
And as far as the trade goes, it has to be Sergio Ramos + Robinho AT LEAST for Ronaldo. Anything less than that should not be accepted. Sneijder deal is off, thats for sure. But I wouldn't be surprised if SAF demanded cash over a player or two. It would be interesting to see what kind of a deal eventually does happen. I'm not even sure about Robinho now because earlier he allegedly asked for Sergios Ramos & Robinho for Ronaldo and now he's put in a bid for Berbatov. So I'm assuming that idiotic genius is staying for half a season at least.

I'm sorry to say this but wake up boys if Ronaldo leaves you are well and truly fu**ed unless you get £80 million and get messi £50m and aguero £30m and get both offers accepted by Barcelona and Atletico accepted when Barcelona are building their new team around messi and atleti's only chance next season is aguero. As and Arsenal fan I want 'Gonaldo' to go but I don't think it will happen.

honestly, and I've said this before, its 50-50 whether he moves, and further its 50-50 if United can see the same success without him. All those goals he scored gotta come from somewhere. Obviously, time will tell, but everything for me is up in the air at this point.
That being said, I do believe that Ronaldo stays because of SAF's blindness in this situation. If a player wants to go THAT badly that he's telling everyone, you sell him for the astronomical fee and move on. I wouldn't want someone like Ronaldo in my dressing room anyways, even if he wanted to leave, but now even more so. Can you tell I don't really like Cristiano Ronaldo much?
What? I didn't foul him, I just nudged him a bit -
