Its 24th May 2000, in the Stade de France, Paris. Madrid inspired by Morientes, McManaman and Raúl cruise past Valencia 3-0 to claim the most coveted prize in Europe, 24 months later the, Galáctico era still in its infancy, need possibaly the greatest goal ever scored in the final to undo Leverkusen. Great moments call for great men... Step foward Zizu the magnificent and Madrid claim crown number 9.

Since those dizzy heights Madrid have failed to get threw the last 16 round in the past 4 tournaments, dumped out by: Juve, Arsenal ( magic Henry goal that was), Bayern, Roma and now embarrassingly 5-0 to Liverpool

So where did it all go wrong for the once all mighty and feared Los Blancos

thats all down to the unstability at the club.they should have stuck with del bosque.now they are an embarrassment to big clubs all over the world.yes, the first 2 goals tonight were dodgy, especially the penalty, and liverpool were brilliant.but they were equally as bad as liverpool were good.they couldnt pass properly, never looked like taking any chances they got and defended like 6 year olds.a truly deserved rout.maybe it will kick some sense into that club

I think you hit the nail on the head with that instability point. I personally thought getting rid of Don Fabio was a bad idea, sure it wasn't pretty but the results spoke for themselves.

As for tonight saying they defended like 6 year olds is an insult to 6 year olds everywhere. In the middle, well im not even sure if they had any midfielders, not that its ever any different Robben is the only one who ever looks likes he wants to be there, and up top Raul was absolutely abysmal no words can describe how bad he and Madrid where

i think madrids best player last night was Diarra. he was trying to make runs but he couldnt do it alone... real were just outplayed, i have no idea how they are in second place in the league... i think if they played in england they'd be below wigan in the table.. haha they really were horrible...

from now on when teams draw real madrid in the last 16 they'll laugh and rest their players for the fa cup tie against a team fighting relegation in the second div.

"The pressure isn't being first... its being second and third chasing me!!!"

Skrtel was the main reason why Real had many shots of target, his constant menace in the box meant they have to shoot from long range, and in a game when Liverpool seemed to have everything right, Real had almost all shots off target.

Casillas is Real Madrids best player, did everything he could do to stop a rot. he is like Sorensen or Given at their respective clubs. the sign was there early on when he had to stop Torres shot with his legs. at any stage of the game, he still gave his best to stop any goal bound shot. Poor guy.

Torres, wow at this form he could be threat to United, maybe it is against a shit Real side, but he still had to do something to get one over his bitter rival.

real were awful tonite but lets not take anything away from liverpool, when the game started i was like "where did this come from".they came rite out the traps with all guns blazing, torres was back to his best and on that form i really dont think theres a better attacking player in the world atm.real unfortunately are miles away from being the force they once were but liverpool and rafa continue to shine on the big stage and who no's if they can play like that the rest of the season starting on sunday, the title race might not be over like everyone was starting to believe.

yea, Gerrard might just be having a training game warm up for Saturdays match. his passing and positioning is 2nd to none.

Mascherano, saw his temper chcked there when cautioned, hope to see more of that this Sat. :D

    Reina wasnt even tested.

Casillas was amazing. The Real forwards were like... wait a second!! Did they have any forwards?

No matter, the defenders at least did the best to keep it... I can't write this with steady fingers!

Seriously, Casillas was the only good thing in white yesterday (and he was wearing a blue shirt). The rest were so bad, it elicited a perfect charaterization from one of my friends: "a joke of a team".

As for Cannavaro, we said about him: "look at that clown!"

Well, until they find a good manager
-and learn that players with Guti's attitude have no place in the team
-and that the likes of Salgado and Torres are the most important players in any team (equivalent to Flamini, Fletcher, Kuyt etc.)
-and that the likes of Sneijder (who is a phenomenon of a player) should be played in their natural position,
    fuck them.

    Cue the Nani jokes...

another thing, Babel was good, wonder if Rafa found out that Babel is actually good enough to player week in week out.

Sergio Ramos, was not bad, made runs and deliveries as much as possible. one of the better 'Real' players.

another player, Xabi Alonso had an excellant game controlled the midfield so well that it seems like a friendly football match.

yes azz, Marcelo was better on that night, his runs were better and more dangerous. plus he help keep the ball to bring it to the Pool half.

Van der Vaart should have started, his creativity was lacking when the game started. too bad, he came on too late.

Spearing, anyone saw him? excellant, but i dont think he will break throught to the first team and most likely be sold or loaned out.

why choose Diarra over 'the killer' Huntelaar?

mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

manutdfan: he is cup tied, and cant play.

Dossena, is another idiot, get booked after coming and managed to get on the score sheet.

Sneijder, was good in the first period, before fading away, good movement and distribution though. his set pieces and shooting was average. selfish at times.

real madrid overall has better players then liverpool...

they lost is because of the stupidity of JUANDE RAMOS and the unstability of the club's top guns..
hope fiorentina perez take over the club's presidency next season n get rid of shit players n also the manager and then sign the best players which will then mk real madrid a force to be reckon again.. !!

duff he's right....Madrid has way better players than Pool but admin and managerial staff must change....I don't put much stock in that 4-0. Real are in shambles as a team but if they had it together, I don't think Liverpool could have beaten them.
