John George Terry has been Mr Chelsea since before Abromavich's injection of roubles in 2003, rising to the challenge of new competition the financial wealth inevitably brought with it.

A similar takeover happened at Many City recently and they've consequently been linked with any big name in football. From Ronaldo to Torres, Kaka to Terry, each rumour has always seemed more ludicrous than the last because of their mediocre position in the EPL.

Recent reports suggest, however, that Terry is using these rumours as negotiation ammo in order to bump up his already staggering £140 k per week wages. Abromavich has apparently become annoyed at these largely underhand tactics of John's and is refusing to budge. Could the England captain really be considering leaving his boyhood club in favour of a more mouthwatering contract?

i spose we will see how dedicated he is to the club if city do manage to get a bid accepted,or at least permission to talk to him

My view on the whole Man City situation is that if they can just get ONE big name to sign, the rest will follow. It's just whether or not they can do it, as it's ahrder then it seems, even with all that money.

There are still two motnhs, however. I would be very optimistic if I were a City fan.

Robinho is already there but his move seemed more out of distrust for both Madrid and Chelsea than a desire to play for City. No big star has jumped out and said 'City is where I want to be' as of yet, and the whole Tevez saga seems more out of spite for Fergie. This Terry situation could make for a very interesting summer of transfer talk. It's nice to see the focus on Chelsea losing their star instead of the Ronaldo circus again

Yeah, I agree. They need a big name to say 'City are the future, be part of something great' and they will come flocking. Everyone wants to be a part of history, especially if it makes them rich!

I dont even feel right about this. Just hoping Terry makes the right decision.

Without a doubt we all know that the right decision is to stay at Chelsea, but I know what you mean X there's a bit of an uncomfortable air surrounding the whole situation. This move would literally rip the heart out of Chelsea; who would be an adequate replacement for Terry considering his significance to the club? I don't know if there's anyone out there who can immediately fill his boots.

Oh boy, oh boy, I love it. Ends all the laugh the Chelsea fans have been having about Ronaldo, Owen, cant wait to see their faces (my friends)..hope it pans out smoothly and Mr.Chelsea becomes captain of Manchester City. I wonder how Chelsea fans will take to him if he leaves..they were talking about Tevez and what will happen when he comes back to Old Trafford (with City most probably), and now their captain looks to be leaving them.

If JT goes to city there is a silver lining Ricky Carvalho will probably stay & my personal opinion is that he is far better than Terry!

Me too, I agree about Riki Carvalho, prefer him over Terry anyway, although Carvalho has some 'discipline' problems such tugging the jersey of the player he is marking at every set piece, which can be very costly to his team. If he can straighten out his style, he's a hell of a great centre half.

Torres has said that Carvalho is the hardest defender he's played against in this league. Ironically, he's scored quite a few against the Chelsea defence, but that's his opinion. The Chelsea v City games would be great to see, but for me, the silver lining isn't as big as the ominous storm clouds that would be left if Terry decides to up and leave. He's more than just a player on the field to the fans, they associate with him more than anyone else.

No way. It doesn't make sense. We all know John won't choose money over his already legendary status at the Bridge...right? Who wants to roll with those Arab sheikhs anyway?
I don't care how much it costs, just give him his damn pay-rise and keep him here

Chelsea have Ivanovic and Alex who are two excellent replacement for terry in a footballing sense, I think lampard would be a great captain aswell, so I dont see them missing out on much :|

SkySports put up a really good 'With Him, Without Him' article on JT. According to the stats, Chelsea's results were better without Terry than with him in the past two seasons.

That's a bold claim to make and while not entirely true, maybe forwards think they've got an easy day coz the big names are away so therefore play below normal standard? Lovin the PES2010 optimism manutdfan

I hope the producers of the game edit the small details...like boot size, different boots... choice of small(rooney-type) tape, or large (ronaldo-type) tape. Choice of mixing and matching socks and shorts, like man u's default home kit is red shirt, white shorts, and black socks, well i've noticed that sometimes they use red, white, black, or red, black, black. Same with Inter, AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, and Chelsea. Along with national teams such as Brazil, agrentina england, italy, portugal, holland, france......what do u think?
