So the inevitable has become a reality. Juande has "left" Spurs. What I don't understand is Redknapp's eagerness to take over for Ramos. He says "Tottenham is a big club". Portsmouth currently sit 7th in the table and have a game in hand. I just don't get it. Harry Redknapp might be a football genius, but i've just lost a lot of respect for him.

Harry Redknapp might be clinically insane

Yep, he's nuts. The way things are going... Ferguson couldn't help Tottenham.
Cue the Nani jokes... -

More money than Pompey to spend in the transfer window, chance to get back to London, stable club (unlike Newcastle)...relegation scrap too. Surprised Ramos went, but not too surprised about Redknapp.
Plus Spurs paid 5m as compensation...

No shit, Sherlock; they have 4 from 2 under Redknapp; 2 from 8 under Ramos... now they have a real manager!

If you want to understand where Flash 'Arry is really coming from you need to read 'Broken Dreams' by Tom Bower. Ginger 'Knapp is an old-style spiv/fixer from the East End and it's no exaggeration to call him and his family 'Hard Men' in the manner of Bricktop in the movie 'Snatch.' Spurs has always been a big money-making club. George Graham and Terry Venables became very rich men from their association with the club and Danny Levy spent years trying to erase the club's sleazy past that reached its zenith in the years when Alan Sugar was Chairman. Look up Harry's history as both a player and a coach and you'll see that all his clubs are 'streaky,' results always a see-saw of ups and downs: Big losses, big wins, high scoring draws. Watch as he buys low and sells high. He is a good motivator and excellent at dealing with the press. When Gaydamak finally sells Portsmouth he'll make a huge profit, thanks to Harry Redknapp and his friends. What's interesting to me, especially considering the police raids on his house, is the fact that a very conservative Danny Levy and the rest of the board decided to go back to old-school Tottenham Hotspur basics. Consider all the problems that went with the construction of Wembley and the Emirates stadiums. With Harry's help there'll be no union problems and it will be finished on time. They're not going to get relegated, but, even if they were, the stadium will ill be packed to capacity. The club is a cash cow and getting into the top four is, ultimately, not what they'll be thinking about for the immediate future.
I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!! -

if you look at the two games Tottenham have had under Harry...Bolton was a game even Ramos could have won and Spurs always pick themselves up for a North London derby. I don't see what *real* effect Harry has had as yet...

Looks like they're already trying to dump the jockey-sized Giovanni Dos Santos while he's still worth something.

Who needs Don Fabio? Harry Redknapp would be England's first pimp manager. You could either pay your way onto the squad or let him turn out your girlfriend, wife, sister or mother. Very inspirational is our 'Arry!

oh please bobo, harry needs to go and get tottenham to beat a smallish team away from home first, something they haven't done since the early days of Martin Jol. That's the tough one, that's where they don't feel so 'motivated'. Big games (and easy games at home like Bolton) will get the players fired up even without a manager.
