When I posed this question "Does Barca winning the Champions League imply a shift in the balance of power from the Premier League back to La Liga" many ppl felt that wasn't the case. Now that Kaka and Ronaldo are Real Madrid players, does this mean the balance of power has shifted back to La Liga? other big-name players will be drawn to La Liga after seeing the biggest names in football Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi play there

Galacticos 2.0, a shift in the balance of power back to La Liga?

yea, now i might have a change of my mind, even Chelsea couldnt out-bid Real for Kaka, though, i might wonder just how did Real get those money! well in that case, i expect Real to push or beat Barca to the La Liga and the UCL as well.

chelsea never bid for kaka, and he wouldnt have considered a move there anyway as soon as real were in for him.real still wont be a huge threat.they are boosting an attack that wasnt the problem last season, its the defence and midfield.and perez is doing nothing to help it.kaka wont be the player to run a game,he doesnt play deep enough.all perez is doing, and he knows it,is making more money for the club

To say that the signing of two players makes the Spanish LEague better than the BPL is just plain stupid.
-
Posted 5 months ago #
Plus, BOTH those players went to one team! and ifMadrid did end up doing well, thats only 2 great Spanish teams, whereas the BPL has 4!

U fail to see the bigger picture bob...for the past 5 seasons all the big names have gone to the Premier League...now that 2 of the biggest names in the sport have gone to La Liga, other big name players will take note and consider moving to la liga rather than the premier league, since everyone wants to play with or against the best in the world
Granted big name players do not a championship-team make, necessarily, but the influx of talent and capital (kaka, messi, ronaldo etc etc) will surely sell some shirts) will surely raise the profile and competitiveness of La Liga

It does help shed a different light on Spanish football that 3 of the worlds best players play in Spain, but who knows who will be in that top three next year and whether Madrid do well as a team
-

RQ,did the galacticos stop top players choosing england over spain?no it didnt.this will be no different.the money is still in the premiership, and that will give england an advantage

i tell you if CR and Kaka do not perform, Real Madrid is the most talent wasting club, worst than Chelsea's team of stars and Liverpool's has-been team.

My friend has weird dreams about football he's won mega ££££ cos of them. In his dream b4 the champs league final he bet on his dreams outcome 2-0 to Barca Eto'o 1st goal & Messi to score with his head. Last week he told me of another of his dreams Madrid will win the champions league beating United in the semi's & Chelsea in the final. I fobbed him off abit but since he's said that they have signed Kaka & Ronaldo weird or what? :S the odds of that happening are 5,000 to 1 u reckon its worth some betting?

ROnaldo went because he was a Real Madrid fan and basically an all round arsehole, Kaka went because he wanted to get Milan the money they told him they "needed" they did not go for the amazing quality of the league, based on league position, if the teams in the BPL faced the Spanitos then the BPL would definitely come out on top, with Barca v United being close (I know we lost, but if we turned up we could've driven Barca close)

It's going to take a while for Real Madrid to be as slick as they want him to be. Who in the midfield or up front is going to do the carrying and dishing for Ronnie that Tevez and Rooney did? You reckon Kaka, Higuain and Raul are up for it? It's not the BPL, it's the EPL.The Scots and Northern Ireland have their own leagues!
I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!! -

Bobotonto's right, Raul and co aren't gonna put up with Ronaldo's antics. Its gonna be a masterful stroke of transfer genius or it'l blow up in Perez's face. Casillas said he didn't want a return to the Galactico era, Nistelrooy and Ronaldo have a bit of bad history between them and I don't think all the ego's can fit into one assembled hierarchy. Kaka will fit in though, he's a humble man

kaka is the ideal sportsman, goes to church everey sunday, never in the news for something bad, always thinking about his family before football. Most humble footballer on earth.

Paul Scholes is the most humble

Just a couple of hints:
- in the 60 Man Utd sold one of their stars to Torino, Italy for a then record fee, only to buy him back less than two years later. They went on to win the Champions Cup (68) and he is still remembered as The King at Old Trafford. I hope for the boy that this does not happen to CR but it would really be funny if it did.
- Man Utd have appeared in two successive CL Finals winning one. Their team regularly included players like O' Shea, Evra, Park, Fletcher, Gibson, good players but no football legends by any means. Yet they went two years without a defeat. Last year's semi against Barcelona was lost by a missed penalty (CR) and won by an old timer (Scholes). The final itself again was lost by CR (missed penalty) while the humble players taking the crucial last penalties saved it. CR did non prevent Man Utd losing this year's CL Final, nor he helped when they were thrashed at Milan two years ago. Against Porto at home it was Rooney's brilliance of feet and mind that helped Man Utd to travel to Porto with more than just hope. Mind you, I still believe CR is the most exciting player in the world but one thing is buying the best players, while building up a world class team is a different act. -

I think that Real have practically make impossible for any other team (or themselves too) to buy new players since now any team in the world will feel quite happy to raise their player's selling fee above reasonable figures. As much as I like the player, I do not think that Ribery quotation should be more than 35/40 M Euros, yet Bayern are talking of 50/60 or more. I bet this year we will see very few players changing clubs, so I cannot envisage a mass exodus to Spain. Three or four world class player do not shift the balance of power of European football, it is the way teams are run and managed, the time managers are allowed to create a successful team, the way young players are introduced to the big games that makes the difference. In Italy if you do not win the league title within 2 years at the outside, you are fired, even if you manage the Italian Wigan or Hull. I do believe the best teams will be grown, not assembled.

BLC, Are you talking about Shitty selling Denis Law to Torino and then United buying him for 115M quid and then, 8 years later, letting him go on a free back to Shitty?
-

we didnt lose last years semi against Barca. we drew away and we won at home.
-
Posted 5 months ago #
the galacticos are not a good thing for football but people get excited by the thought of a team like that. I think having 4 of last years 5 worlds best players will shift some power back to la liga but it doesnt make it the best league it makes it the most marketable.
-
Posted 5 months ago #
I agree with the fact that Bayern are being mad about their estimation of Ribery, they're just trying to ramp up the money that Madrid hand over to them though and that combined with the Man Shitty effect has made prices of all good players soar.
-
Posted 5 months ago #
True, but the condition of both Milan's finances and the effect losing Ribery can have on the Bundesliga propel both Ribery's market valuation and deflate Kaka's from 100 mill to what Madrid paid

Not only Ronaldo and KAKA, But also Tax and Climate in Spain in better for player
-
Posted 4 months ago #
better for players, but not for playing, the cold climate is partly the reason why the pace of the EPL (there ya go Bobo
) is so fast.
-

Because running faster escapes the cold?
I think there's a better explanation...

I feel like there's much too much opportunity for a lad like Ronaldo to get up to his shenanigans in sunny Madrid under the not so stern eye of Pellegrini. I can see the story unfolding already. Pellegrini drops Ronaldo after Ronaldo has a duffer in November and Ronaldo starts whinging to the press and to Perez, who fires Pellegrini by Christmas, installs a completely different character in charge who clashes with the squad players Pellegrini brought in, aka the defensive players. We see yet another Madrid clearout sale, Madrid get linked to every player to replace the outgoing players, but instead go out and use the money to buy Ribery. Ribery plays on the right and Ronaldo is asked to play on the left, Ronaldo refuses, Ribery gets moved on the left, Ribery goes to the French press and says that Ronaldo is unbearable as a team mate, he's fined by Perez for badmouthing Perez's golden boy and sold in the summer. Kaka has a decent season, but after several years of conceding more than they score and constant managerial changes leads to a very empty trophy cabinet, he issues a statement along the lines of "I came to Real Madrid to win trophies and I'm tired of coming second to Barca". The press have a field day, he's linked to every other big name club. Casillas has another crappy season being the only player in Real's defensive half of the pitch. Ronaldo ends up in the papers every other day with photos of him exiting nightclubs the night before a big game, he continues to prance around, but he has an enormous dip in form, but is delusional enough to think that he's still a world beater and has a temper tantrum when not nominated for World player of the year. He enjoys his stay in Madrid prancing around, doing tricks to entertain the crowd at the expense of winning trophies and when Perez loses office starts to feel miserable and releases press statements about how much he misses England.
Of course, I could be wrong... -
