    Some decent players there. No Arsenal quality but certainly some of those players would make it at lower clubs and would be good shouts for bottom half Premiership sides or Championship sides.

    The snip of them all of course was Steve Sidewell, snapped up by Chelsea. I didn't want him, personally, because we didn't need him and had already let him go. Our central midfield was already rather packed. Still a very decent player though, capable of making it in many a Premiership side. Sadly, I doubt he'll get much opportunity at Chelsea where he could've easily had a regular starting berth elsewhere, or even stayed at Reading, who enjoyed a promising debut Premiership campaign.

    Veron.

    In the right team, in the right role, he could be devistating.

    I honestly belive we messed up by not giving him one more season. Playing more advanced in the 4231 formation in the preseason that summer he was devestating - really looked like it was finally clicking, then we sold him. I was gutted.

    @Tauren

    It was Veron or Scholes. I think SAF finally realised it and sold Veron. We made some money off him too :)

    I thought it was the best way to end

    What are the odds of Veron being signed up for free by Keano?

    Was not aware Veron was still floating around. In the FM 2007 game he is playing for an Argentinian side.

    I think if Quiroz was around in those days we could have got more from Veron, especially in the European games. There is no doubt he was a world class player, albeit perhaps not suited for the Premier League and our 4-4-2 formation.

    Veron, and then build the team around him. Imagine the team that signs Requelme AND Veron.

    bah had Veron still been 27 years old he's be a good transfer but he's getting on in years...too late to adapt into the premiership.

    Riquelme and Veron?
    oh dear
    surely one playmaker who likes a lot of time on the ball is enough for the slick english game. In Italy or Spain maybe.

    Being a Manchester United fan I have wondered how the team would have performed with Juan Roman Riquelme playing the maestro in the attacking midfielder position. His passing, imagination and lethal dissection of opposing defenses is that of legend. His present form for both Boca and for Argentina is at a level equal with the greatest stages of great form ever exhibited by Maradona, Pele, Beckenbauer and Cruyff. He is a Picasso who doesn't always fit into a rigid system. That is why United didn't try really hard to sign him last year when there were rumours circulating about a move to Man U. He is perfectly suited for the Italian game which is slower but more technical. Still, the thought of him string lovely through balls to Rooney, Ronaldo etc is something to really fantasize over.

    If I were any of the big 4 teams in England I would break the bank and pay whatever the cost to get the next Maradona. That being Leo Messi. His skill, pace, determination and imagination are incredible would instantly pay dividends for any team that signed him. Although Man U may be close to signing Tevez, I often wonder how great they would be with Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney up front. Absolutely unstoppable. Whoever you mark out of the game, the other two would raise their game and make things happen.

    If I were Sir Alex I would have made getting a World Class goalkeeper a major priority. Van Der Sar suffered major periods of old age and poor form last season and he may well have cost United the FA Cup. The big game saving stops were just not there. Personally I think the next best goalkeeper on the planet after Buffon and Cech resides in Glasgow. I think Boruc of Celtic is just what the doctor ordered. Reminds me a lot of Schmeichel and has great saving abilities with outstanding reflexes. I also feel that Timo Hildebrand has made a mistake moving to Valencia where the new coach prefers Canazaris. Man U, should swoop up and rescue him from that poor decision that was made before the changes in coaching at Valencia. Hildbrand is the best goalie Germany has right now as Kahn and Lehmann are just too old. Weidenfeller is also very good. I would take a German goalkeeper over almost any other nationality. They just play the position technically well. When can you recall a German national side without a great goalkeeper? Maier, Schumacher, Immel, Illgner, Kopke, Kahn and Lehmann. They have all been outstanding. Hildebrand would be the next in line. And Boruc like Schmeichel plays like a German keeper. Aggressive with confidence and arrogance. He owns the box.
