It seems to me that free kick takers are becoming more rare as time passes by..
i remember the days when Beckham, Carlos, Mihalovic, Veron, figo, Recoba, Rivaldo, Zidane, Nedved, ballack, Tarnat.. etc where all great free kick takers.
Most of these either retired or went to crappy clubs or stopped scoring free kicks for some reason.
If you think about today's current free kick takers you find out that almost all of them are veterans like del piero, Juninho, Totti,..etc
i cant think of a good free kick taker thats not above 30 except for ronaldo and pirlo.. and they arent that superb
and maybe ronaldinho is coming back( but i count him as a veteran).....
(Gerrard is not a good free kick taker nor is Lampard)
they are getting less every day... whats happening :/

The best potential prospects i see are Giovinco, sneijder, and ronaldo... if these three can train more on free kicks they will end up ok

My pick if i need goal(to win or draw) via a FK:
    1) Ronaldinho
    2) Juninho Pernambucano
    3) Beckham

of course these players are probably past their peaks.

Alex? the one in SB or in Japan?

i think Nakamura, Pirlo and Chivu could be added to my list from 4 to 6.

    Ballack
    Drogba
    Totti
    Peiro
    Alex

Xerxes, we're not talking about ur dream Chelsea attack, ok ? None of them, except Del Piero, are good FK takers...Ballack has never taken a direct free kick in his entire Chelsea carrer, as far as I can remember, Drogba has only scored twice from all the free-kicks he has taken, and unless Chelsea plans to draw fould around 40yrds, I dont see the need for Alex to be included in this....I havent seen Totti take any free kicks so I cant comment...

    rooney, hagreaves, robinho...

Rooney doesn't take FK's Azz, calm down, Hargo is good but he's only taken them twice for us and scored both time...Robinho doesnt take FK's, it's just against Chelsea he had the extra responsibility of taking a FK as a big hyped player on his debut...

Robbie C goes for power, but accurate at the same time. while most that were mention goes for curl, dipping and sometimes swerving that deceives the keeper.

you never seen rooney take a good free kick? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp7QT3ZAMqk
queresma is good at free kicks. ronaldinho gotta be 1 of the best. N robinho is quality at free kicks 1 free kick 1 goal what is better? to say ronaldo is one of the best is clearly a lie he scores like 1/20.

Ahmed shah obviously u dont watch anything. Ballack has scored so many Free-kicks during his day and also internationally. Totti scores mostly for Roma he just scored one last week. Also Drogba scored many with OM.

i cant recall any ballack free kick in the last two years..
Rooney is NOT a good free kicker, henry, quaresma and Drogba are not too..
Mutu is better at free kicks than any of these and he isnt that accurate

Unless Lamps is out and the FK is some where 40m away Infront of goal(not on the side), Ballack should be taking it.

Currently it is between Deco and Lamps, Deco takes those away from goal.

and if u guys think Robinho is good, then why doesnt he take more? it is just that he took 1 for Citeh and he scored, u cant just base on 1 FK? cuz it is a goal(100%) or not a goal(0%) not very fair in terms of stats. at least Hargo or Deco has taken more, and they are quite good!

I said with Chelsea in the last two years. He hasnt scored once from a free kick. Germany is a completely different team. He's the Captain of that team. You dont become a good FK taker by taking one FK in two years...

if he takes free kicks regularly for the National team, then he should be fine for Chelsea.

he doesn't take more free kicks for city as garrido is qulity at set pieces. City generally use free kicks for crosses to the likes of Jo & Benjani.
