now that i think of it,does anybody know a good central defender,no nonsense kind,replacement for vidic.preferably under 22

what year are you in?
If you build them up, Pique and Evans are quite good. Brown is fairly good as well.
Under 22 I'd go with Sakho and Breno, both are 17 when the game starts so will need a few years to mature.
Kompany is a good buy, albeit a bit expensive.
Again, depends which year you're in.

well at this stage im at august 2012,but im looking for somebody that is 22 or under when the game starts.i have pique and garay starting with breno and a brazilian youngster from fluminense as back-up but none of them are really proper replacements for vidic.as for kompany,he's a no-go because hes with liverpool,fans wont accept it.money is no problem though,unless he will cost more than 141 million

have you signed henri saivet?he is a must,fantastic prospect.ustari is the best keeper in the game.di maria is available after the first season for around 7 mil.just a few tips there for you

Thanks! I have Saivet and am delighted. Have sent him out on loan at Sunderland and he has scored 21 goals in 25 Premier League games. I missed out on Ustari (Arsenal nicked him) but I did get Akinfeev instead...
Did you get Carlos Vela? Easily as good as Tevez and Rooney after about 3 seasons but you are going to pay a bucket-load for him.

My strike force is as follows (in order of preference): Rooney, Huntelaar, Balloteli, Vela, Chambers, Saivet (on loan), Tevez (reserves).
My central defence is quite bad though: Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Pique, Breno (I play Richards as a full-back mostly)...
Vidic sucks, Rio is getting old. Evans makes mistakes, Breno and Pique are not at full potential yet.

Get Sakho. If you get him early on and nurture him, he's fantastic.
Cathcart is fairly good as well.
Somehow I never get Saivet. I got Cavani (Palermo) and he's a good alternative to Rooney since he's a pure target man.
I've sworn to stay away from FM till the new version comes out, must get out of this thread now

I play a diamond 4-4-2 but will get to a more offensive minded 3-5-2 once I get rid of Evra and this is my squad (in order of preference):
GK: Akinfeev, Van der Sar
DR: Richards, Neville, Rafael da Silva
DC: Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Breno, Pique
DL: Evra, O'Shea
DM: Hargreaves, Carrick
MR: Ronaldo, Rafael (different dude), Nani
ML: Messi, Sneijder, Iago
AM: van der Vaart, Anderson, Vela

just rooney and james.if i find a good young english player through scouting i will move for him but i find a lot of great brazilians through the fluminense connection
what kind of play do you use?i have a 4-4-2 with the wingers pushed up.most of the play goes through the flanks,quick tempo,short passing.when it works,its excellent but it can go horribly wrong if the wrong players are on the pitch.make sure your scouts and coaches favour your style of play,trust me it helps a lot

Try getting the version for Mac. Seriously, I think that it is available... other than that, try getting it on a game console if you have one.

duffman, there is a guy in my shortlist, his name is David Oliveira Filho. Young defender pretty good. I don't have him and I probably won't get him, but he is very highly rated as early as 2010.
I think that he was actually recommended by one of the guys who worked on FM2008...

just found a young brazilian defender,sidnei.starts off with internacional,check him out if your looking for defensive options
and XerxesK,do your best to find a mac version,it really is a great game

I've seen some FM08 vids at Youtube, though I dont have the game and I'd like to recommend a young dude as well...some Portugese midfielder called Adrien..check him out !! I dont know which club he plays for..maybe AC Milan or Sporting, I think !!!

Depends what you want him for. If you want a skilled attacking midfielder, go for van der Vaart or Moutinho.
If you want a someone to play left, right, central and attacking midfield then Sneijder would be a good choice but Valliati (check spelling - starts the game with Torino) would be excellent.
Also, if you want Sneijder, wait until the second year. Real Madird will make him available for loan; take him on loan for a while and if you like what you see, they will sell to you for about 20 mil (same thing happened to me in two different games).

is vaillati the guy with a brilliant free kick stat?
another skillful attacking midfielder is sebastien giovinco with juventus.he's expensive if you wait til he's finished his loan spell with empoli but if you move for him quickly you can get him for under 20 mil.but believe me he's worth it
