Although it seems quite difficult to achieve, Manchester United proved that they are capable of anything and they are able to win all five trophies at stake this season: League Cup, FA Cup, World Club Championship, Champions League and last but not at least the Premier League.

Manchester already managed to win two trophies after winning in December the World Club Championship final 1-0 against Ecuadorian team Liga de Quito and now the League Cup after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on penalties.

Sir Alex Ferguson is very close to a historical performance, to win five trophies in one season with Manchester and exceed the previous record owned by Jock Stein who won four trophies with Celtic in 1966-1967 season.

Even if not many people would bet on their success, Ferguson believes in the opportunity and some reasons that give him confidence would be:

    1. Manchester United is in top form at the moment having seven consecutive victories in Premier League.

    2. Cristiano Ronaldo, the best player in the World last season, plays for them

    3. Ferguson has a very numerous and also very valuable squad.

The value of the players is about the same level. The substitutes can make the difference at any time and the best proof here is the League Cup final when Ferguson rested players like Van der Sar, Carrick, Berbatov, Rooney or Giggs and played with the youngsters.

    4. His career stats are incredible.

Ferguson is definitely one of the best managers in the history of football, being at the head of Manchester for 22 years now and wining more trophies than any other manager in the history of English game.

    5. Friendship and respect between players, a very important condition for the success of any club.

If we stay and analyze all these points we came to the conclusion that Manchester have all the chances to make this performance and win all the five trophies at stake.

You are right, the most difficult will be to win the Champions League but nobody expects to be easy :)
If most of the players will be fit then all they still need is a little bit of luck.

If it was anyone other than Mourinho, I'd say the home leg was in the bag, but I expect Inter to score and it'll be up to our much-praised defense (surely the best record in Europe in the last 3 seasons) to hold Inter back. If we do that, then we're good to go.

FA Cup could spring a surprise too, never sure with that.

Shouldn't the community shield count though? :)

well lets keep all the those talk down, take a game at a time, we have the league position to maintain, which i think is our next best chance of the remaining 3 trophies. then comes the FA Cup. with the strength in the reserves, we should have a good chance to make it to the final, unless we meet a big gun and they wanted to win at least trophy/qualify for the UEFA cup so badly.

well not sure 'bout that cuz Rooney and Dimi should be back and starting.

    van der Sar
    Neville Vidic Ferdinand Evra
    Park Fletcher Carrick Giggs
    Berbatov Rooney

Subs: Foster, Anderson, Tevez, Nani, Scholes, Evans

more than enough power to win at St James, can rest Ronaldo.

    lol

Taylor will be their best player, he will have to block everything that comes his way. other then that, Butt, Duff, Guthrie, Owen, Beye are all out. plus Harper isnt a Given. their defence is the best they can use, maybe park a bus in goal. Martins isnt what he used to be when he scored against us in the opening day. Lovenkrands havent really "settled" into the team yet.

    Harper
    S.Taylor Coloccini Bassong Enrique
    Geremi Edgar Lovenkrands Jonas
    Martins Ameobi

Subs: Forster, Carroll, Cacapa, Xisco, Nolan, R.Taylor, Viduka,

I've been really impressed by Sebastian Bassong this season. He arrived a complete unknown and is now in line to pick up the Newcastle player of the season. I think Lovankrands will be a threat but of course Vida/Rio/Johnny are more than capable of dealing with him. What do you guys think of Bassong ???

Bassong was solid this morning, he kept Toon in the game till the end. almost single-handed kept Berba and Rooney quiet.

Berbatov will be the MOTM for United, not his best game, but his passing was good, hence if not for Bassong, United will be on a rampage.

Parky, was good too. chased every ball, full of energy, should be starting in Cup this weekend.

newcastle were very unlucky last nite, created good chances with a team riddled with injuries, martins and lovenkrands looked good together, vidic played terrible and should have been off the park with that challenge on martins, vds had some scary moments as well but it just goes to show that even after a mediocre performance from united they still managed to pick up 3 points away from home from a newcastle side that played as well as i've seen them all season.

    i hate peter lovenkrands

im still struggling to understand how steven taylor managed to only get a yellow.yes, the first challenge with ronaldo was only a yellow at the most, but then he hacked down carrick immediately after, surely worthy of another yellow or a red.lucky boy

as usual Rooney scored against Toon, he did it on the turn and via his left foot.

if Vidic warrented a red, how about Martins elbow on Vidic's face, needing his cheek to have stitches.

i read somewhere CR and S Taylor had a bust-up in tunnel at HT.

hamburg c'mon m8 strikers always lead with the elbow when going up for a header with a defender.unfortunate accident.

vidic knew martins was beating him for pace so he just lunged at his knees,if he had travelled another metre before being challenged it would have been a penalty and a sending off.intentional bad challenge.

fair enough. but the ref have to be consistant!

plus if S Taylor was sent off, who will be the one heading/passing the ball back to the keeper? only for Park to tap past Harper for Dimi to score the winner.

it was a bumpy game, yes, look at the pitch and you will know it isnt a smooth game.

Forget winning the Quintuple! One game at a time, lads. I don't really understand why Vidic and Martins throwing elbows at each other is an issue at all. This morning Wenger is whining and whinging because he wants a ready-made excuse for Arsenal's continuity of failure. The F.A. really cocked up by not giving Kevin Nolan a longer suspension for his outrageous tackle on Anichebe, but giving any more 'protection' to flair players will only serve to ruin the overall quality of the premiership game. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Stevie Gerrard, Cesc Fabregas and Didi Drogba get away with murder sometimes and treated like the boy who cried wolf sometimes, too. It all evens out. Wenger is embarrassed that his decision not to pay Flamini what he wanted has exploded in his face./Only Arsenal fans are fooled by his excuses.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

Poor Fulham! Tevez's second goal was a beauty. I really hope he gets a chance in the Inter game.

i know its still early, but i wouldnt be hugely shocked if we got at least 4 trophies this season

Also, you have to say the best three clubs at the moment right now are manu, barca and inter.Barca are looking like collapsing, and i think they are too one-dimensional.Also,their defense is'nt that strong. They can't deal with balls into the box.
If you had messi, henry and eto, or Rooney, berba and ronaldo as an attack to choose from...who would you choose? I think man for man, united's attack is marginally better. What we really need is for rooney to refine his finishing skills.

and if all three teams have their day, inter are no match for united or the right barca. The fact is united are peaking at the right time, and barca peaked to early

I'm not sure Messi vs CR7=Messi, Berbatov vs Eto'o=Eto'o & Henry vs Rooney=Rooney
if tevez doesn't start on wednesday which i am sure of then fergie is just an idiot it is like what rafa did with keane...

I agree with all that's been posted, I think we will probably retain the Premier League, aswell as the FA Cup, i'm not too sure on the Cmapions League though, i think teams have significantly improved in this years teams.
