UEFA recently changed the name of the UEFA Cup to Europa League.
What do you guys think of the changes (name plus streamlining of format)?

its just a desperate attempt to get it closer to the champions league,which will never happen

that's ok...i think they should try...it is almost as competitve as the champions league with really good football...sometimes even better. it just is seen as a number two so it hasn't much clout but grat teams pass thru...bayern milan porto

its a good competition but it just isnt on the same level as the CL

To try been in the same level with one of the prestigious competitions in Europe is definitely 'useless'...
mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

It's a good competition in its own right, and it really didn't need the name change to try to amp up its popularity. The Champions League is still going to grab the most headlines, because it features the best of the best.
The expansion of the group stage might only serve to help teams pick up a few extra garbage points against lesser opposition, and maybe the occasional shock for a little guy, at best.
