As a former England supporter i have to say that this whole hype of them being favorites for the world cup will be their downfall in the end... b4 the holland game everyone was praising their "fantastic" defence but they sucked in the end, the 2002 qualifiers where they murdered eventual finalist Germany 5-1 they were immediately crowned serious contenders for the tittle but what happened in the end??? 2 draws and an unconvincing win in the group stages then going out against Brazil in the quarters in a match that some would say they were unlucky in but in reality they just didnt play well...
now fast forward 2 present day, they have an amazing coach a much more mature and incredible squad with players at their peak.. on paper they not only are contenders they are guaranteed winners but alas i dont think that will be the case.. i mean they have the most easiest group in qualifiers and they really havent been challenged on an international stage since the last world cup...
so what do u guys think???

the expectation will always be there and the pressure also, but i seriously think theyve had the squad to win something for a few years now and 2010 might jst be their year if they get a decent strikeforce up front, rooney playing with owen this season helps alot along with defoe and crouch and with gerrard playing more attack minded and letting lamps and barry get better together, their in a solid position ,the back four speaks for itself so id say 2010 is theirs for the taking.

England's back 4 must be strong as solid & have much teamwork though..
Just learning from mistakes (eg. against Holland) and all will be excellent..

mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

I think they have a really good chance this time round. Under Capello, England look mightily improved. Holland was one of those matches where you'd have expected England to just lose hope and the Dutch to keep possession and cruise, but no, England fought back, something we dont get the opportunity to say too much, and got a deserved draw. England vs Brazil the Final......and oh ya, Brazil to win. ;-)

I am backing Spain again. I watched the Macedonia match and I have to say at times they can be weak and over confident(vs USA in the confed cup)

England is very weak at the back. Unless Hargo plays regularly and solve their keeping problems, I am afraid this is another campaign of false hopes.

Brazil have simialr defence problems as well over-hyped favourites(vs Egypt). At least their keeper is strong. Give me another 6 mths and see who gets their ticket to South Africa.
