I cannot believe that Michael Owen was not picked for the england squad in the 1st place when players like Emile Heskey who hadn't scored in 6 years got picked Owen has to be one of the best strikers going & even unfit he is better than Cole, Crouch, Heskey & Bent. Yet i was further surprised when Darren 'donkey' Bent got called up despite the fact he missed an open net the last time he played. Out of the Forwards england have available only Rooney is better than Owen. & As for Stewart Downing he has to be the worst player to ever play for England

Michael Owen is bent. He is, as Ian Wright said yesterday, not respected as a footballer, but feared as a bookie/loan shark for Liverpool thugs. Owen and Robbie Fowler have so much money out there on the street and are so ridiculously rich that football is barely a concern. When he began intimidating Rooney over huge betting debts, the F.A. had to worry about a major scandal. The question out there still is: Who fixed the Ecuador game at the last W.C.? So, I don't think you'll be seeing my boy soon in the new ugly England kit. Besides, he doesn't exactly have the physicality necessary to replace Heskey beside Wazza.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

I agree Owne should be a regular in the squad but I also see Fabio's logic Owen has just come back from an injury and has only made 1 sub appearence. I think if Owen had 2 or 3 full games under his belt he should have be called up even if he didn't score in those games.

if owen was fully fit ofcourse he would have been picked, but with the injuries piling up it wouldve been too much of a risk to call up a player who is injury prone, wot if owen was called up and pulled up with an injury in the first 10 minutes then that wouldve left wazza on his own as the only striker.crouch should do a decent job, even better if beckham starts,if beckham can put in a couple of pinpoint crosses, crouch will not dissapoint.
