A very good article (although with some factual inaccuracies) by Martin Samuel on how the new breed of football club owners have no clue on how to run a football club:

What really rankles me is when Ashley says: "Oh, we didn't know everything about the transfers because it happens so fast" or when City or Liverpool fans say "we needed the money".
Of course you needed the money. Of course it happened fast. That's not the point. Due diligence on both sides would have saved everyone a helluva lot of trouble. I'm not an Arsenal fan but the way they've handled their business even in the face of debts that prevent Wenger from competing at even City levels is admirable. Arsenal aren't the strongest team on the pitch but you cannot fault club management for it (if anything, you could fault them for being too anal to accept investment but that's a different story).
Good clubs, good fans, ruined by some billionaire's (or in Liverpool's case, two millionaires) love for money. You can't help but feel sorry for the fans, especially since it's their club's previous management that's brought them to this point.
