Werder Bremen star Diego is agonizingly close to officially completing his long-awaited move to Juventus after he confirmed that he will play for the Bianconeri next season.
Giacomo Petralito, one of the Brazilian star's representatives, yesterday announced that the transfer to Juve was a done deal, but German newspaper Bild then claimed that Bayern Munich had struck a deal with the 24-year-old.
Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli insisted yesterday evening that Diego would indeed be arriving in Turin, and this was echoed by the player's father and agent, Djair da Cunha, who said this morning that only ‘small details’ separate his son from the Bianconeri, and that the Bayern rumours were false.
Diego has now confirmed himself that he will be joining Juventus, providing the Italians and his current club Werder complete the formalities of the transfer.
"I have everything arranged with Juventus. The deal is done," he told Kreiszeitung Sykè.
"If the two clubs have come to an agreement, then next season I will play in Turin.
"I have not yet signed an official document with Juve, but I think Friday everything will be finalised."
Diego also went on to deny that he had been in contact with Bayern Munich. A transfer to Juventus, barring a dramatic late collapse, is now almost guaranteed.
