    Confederations Cup 2009

The 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup will be the eighth Confederations Cup, and will be held in South Africa from 14 June to 28 June 2009, as a prelude to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The draw was held on 22 November 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The opening match will be played at Coca-Cola Park in Johannesburg. The defending champions are Brazil, who won the most recent Confederations Cup in 2005.

So who's your pick to win this? i am sure Spain are the hot favourites!

Brazil, with player of the tournament either robinho, fabregas or fernando torres.
    top scorer: torres
    flop of the tournament: toni
    most attractive playing team: Brazil
Most boring team: italy of course....

brazil most attractive?not the way they are playing now.spain without iniesta can still play better stuff.im backing villa to become top scorer in this too,and spain to win it

no problem.and actually, now that i think of it you could be right about brazil winning it too, they are seriously lucky.how they managed to get a draw against ecuador a couple of months ago i have no idea, and a flukey winner against paraguay too.cant write them off

    Briliant display by Spain...
a hattrick by Fernando "We want you?" Torres...
and a goal by Francesc "U should leave Arsenal" Fabregas...

4-3 against Egypt certainly exciting enough.

Torres looks very good bet for top scorer. Still think Brasil could win it.

you would hardly call the way they played attractive.look at how spain played, thats attractive.the brazilians were scrappy.egypt were fantastic,i told my friends to look out for zidan and abou trika, they dismissed them before the tournament even started.showed them up today, they killed the brazilian defence.if that dope on the post hadnt started acting up he probably would have gotten away with the handball

I expect Spain to fold against stronger opposition, just a feeling and Brazil were nearly shown up by Egypt so I doubt both of them will reach the final.

African nations were always going to be a handful for the italians, too much pace, and overall athleticism.

Does my country the USA have any chance against Spain in the semis? :)

So it'll be Brazil vs Spain in the final (I don't see SA beating the Brazilians)...will we see the same matchup in World Cup 2010? now THAT's beautiful football!!

The Brazilians seem to have different skill-sets from the Spanish: they have no individual flair and are more flashy (stepovers, nutmegs etc.) whereas the Spanish seem to have perfected the art of pretty passing and "possession football", aided in large part by Barca's very own Iniesta and Xavi. Granted Iniesta isn't playing but you can imagine how fearsome Spain will be when he plays in World Cup 2010

So is Spain the favorite for World Cup 2010?

Ibra's Abracadabra will help Barca win their second Treble, and Eto'o will revitalize Inter Milan!!

even though i am brazilian i have to admit that Spain are the sure favorites for 2010, unless we start playing hernanes, anderson, and diego again. that would be boss.

U know what? I kinda like the vuvuzela...it brings a unique local flava to football played in South Africa...otherwise, if you didn't know it was played in SA, you'd think it was somewhere in Europe or South America
