    Gianfranco Zola

Despite being just 5ft 5in, Zola was one of the most feared players in England, and regarded as one of the best in Chelsea's history. His fantastic skill and dazzling tricks made him a favourite not just to Chelsea fans, but to most football fans.

He played as a deep-lying forward, so scored and created a lot of goals. He scored 222 goals in 619 performances over a 21 year career at six different clubs. He perhaps didn't have a international career worthy of his talent, winning just 35 caps, scoring 10 times.

Zola was voted Football Writers' Player of the Year, and has been inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame. He was also voted the greatest player to have ever played for Chelsea.

    Eric Cantona

Known to United fans as "King Eric", Eric Cantona was confident to the point of cockiness, but with fairly good reason. His skill, presence and pure genius is something rarely seen.

His career stats are 161 goals in 432 games over a 14 year career, including one season when he was banned for the infamous karate kick. Internationally, Cantona won 45 caps for France, scoring 20 goals.

Cantona helped United to four Premier League titles in the five years he was at Old Trafford. He was also voted Manchester United's Player of the Century in 2001, some feat considering some of the names to have played there.

and regarded as one of the best in Chelsea's history.

One of the best ??? He is the best. Period.

I liked Zola as I've never liked a Chelsea player. King Eric's discipline does come in mind whenever comparing him with someone else. I'd have to say Zola more for his on-the-pitch abilities.

Chelsea had one good player...United had several, so it's easier for Chelsea fans to overrate Zola :)

I don't mean to put Zola down though - he was, for some time, as important to Chelsea as some of the best players in United's history have been to the club.

Best player at the club is always relative who else has played for the club.

I'd vote for Lampard as one of the best Chelsea have seen, ever.

it means you will favour one side more than the other.for example,a man utd fan will say cantona is better because he was a united player but a chelsea will say zola is better because of his chelsea history

Really, what's the point of this? Zola was a throwback to the football of another era. 5'5" and petite, he could take an amazing amount of stick, and, aside from the goals he scored, make whoever played with him look better because he could pull a defence out of shape so effortlessly. Cantona, huge, yet incredibly quick, able to see everything going around him in a split-second and act accordingly. The only team athlete I can compare his level of vision and skill to is Michael Jordan. One incredible goal 80th minute goal against Liverpool will be burned into my brain forever. 0-0. (Anfield 1997, I think)The Scousers had nine men behind the ball. No space whatsoever. Cantona gets the ball, surveys it all with his radar, flicks it hip high then puts a curving threaded volley between three defenders and past a dumbfounded frozen Calamity James. A fucking miracle! Like a trick pool shot. Roy Evans was trying to yank his own hair out. I've seen lots of great ones from Georgie Best and Bobby Dazzler, but nowt as perfect as that. Enough said!

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

i say cantona, but it is hard to tell with the teams they had around them. cantona would hae been a beast internationally. 20 goals in 45..... wow. but didnt he have an argument with the manager

i feel cantona is better but i see the point about him having many other better players on the team with him
at the end of the day he succeeded more while he was there much more than zola did
both's influence on the premiership is just as important, but at the end of the day cantona won four premiership titles while zola won nothing more than the cup-winners cup and the fa cup
cantona for me but only just

it was actually the whole french fa, they all hate him and he called them idiots. cantona would have been all time top scorer for france other wise
