Who is better? Why is he better? Give me facts. Not just "Casillas has played better than him in the games I've seen". Give me PROOF of WHY you think Casillas or Valdes is better.

PS: Keep in consideration that many times the amount of goals received in the league (if low) also is thanks to the defense who have done their job.

why anyone would pick the brainless valdes over casillas is a mystery.casillas may have conceded more in the league this season, but that was because until ramos came in the defence was a disgrace.if you watch some of the games when ramos first came in,you will see that in the first few victories, the ones over valencia and villareal especially, casillas played a massive part in the wins.the goal was being peppered non stop and he pulled out some incredible saves.then look at valdes.almost sits down when juninho scores the free kick in lyon, not sure what he was thinking there.against espanyol, hits a clearance straight to an espanyol midfielder who sets up de la pena for a simple finish, mainly because valdes didnt have the sense to get back into the goal.his handling is poor too,i remember him getting away with a massive clanger against numancia (i think).he couldnt hold a header and pushed it out after it crossed the line but the linesman didnt give it.lucky boy.doesnt deserve a national team place imo

I know I'm of the same opinion, but I was having an argument with a friend about Valdes beeing a very good keeper. I leave Valdes at decent, but not really good. I don't understand how he hasn't been benched and Barca haven't brought in a new keeper.

Hey, azz!! I really like Foster. Hope he stays because he looks a class act.

As for the Valdes issues - I am a hardcore Barca fan when it comes to La Liga - he sucks. I know, I know, don't say that, but you just never think that he will make a save if somebody manages to put a shot on goal. I don't think that there has been a single goalkeeper since Bosnich that has inspired to little confidence in me as a fan. That is why I think that Casillas is better because I always thing that he is going to do something brilliant (like the string of three saves that he made in the game against Barcelona just before Christmas).

    Cue the Nani jokes...

Casillas is one of the best goal keepers alongside buffon (generally) and Julio Cesar (this year).
Valdes is a terrible goal keeper.
Chech,Almunia,Manninger,Abbiati,Riena,VDS,Given, casillas and many more are way ahead of him. He is the worst goal keeper in any of the top teams.'I am surprised a big club like barca stays with him. He usually costs barca 9 points per season with mistakes that not even I would have done if i were goal keeper. The most recent ofcoarse is juninho's freekick in the ECL..

Frank, You ask the right question and nobody's answered it. For me, it's about passivity and intelligence. Casillas gets lots of work because his defense is pretty weak and players like Heinze, Metzelder, Pepe and Cannavaro make lots of errors. HE is rarely the one to make costly errors. Valdez's defence is also error prone in transition and yet he actually does pretty well against counter-attacks.His weakness is simply mental mistakes. That and a lack of communication with his centre backs. You really get to see how good goalies like Asenjo, Ochoa, Given, Gomes and Cesar are simply because their defences are error prone.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

Valdes should be the Derby Fc's GK.

So what you are saying is Valdes is like David (calamity) James...thus Casillas is 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000...
    00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better

Valdes has a Zamora trophy and is set to win it this year, despite all the bad talk about him. Casillas has only won the Zamora once, so at the end of the season, with the numbers in hand, Valdes has a claim to say he is better. I think statistics don't lie, so you should forget prejudices and some punctual hyper-publicised errors by Victor Valdes.

If u are the 1st choice keeper for your country you are obviously better than someone who has never been capped except by some catalonian joke of a national team...

Valdes is good without doubt, but not even close to keepers like Casillas, Buffon, Cech, etc
