Can Rooney be the next Giggs for United?

The similarities, when you think about it, are striking. Both players are blessed with outrageous talent, both have a passion for just playing football and a rare loyalty to their clubs, both are idolised by their own fans and grudgingly respected by opposition fans, both are, in their own ways, representative icons for Manchester United.

Will Rooney stay for the next decade at Manchester United? I sure hope so, for if he does, there's no reason why he cannot win the same number of titles as Giggs has in his career, and enjoy the same standing in the game as Giggs has right now.

    What do you guys think?

But isn't Giggs a product of Manchester and Rooney a product of Everton?

I think Rooney is a talent tho and might stay...it all depends in the era after Fergie what happens...that is the biggest factor.

so once again Tevez starts on the bench....i think this is going to cost manchester in the long run....i'm sorry i would quicker sacrifice Berbatov than Tevez....he is a monster...

and must not be on the bench at all!

but i really hope rooney stays at united for the rest of his career.i also hope tevez stays at united till he goes back to boca.he might not be getting much playing time right now but berbatov is playing excellent, instrumental today.but tevez will get chances,no doubt about it.....hope manucho gets a game soon too

The big difference would be that Giggs was always a grown up and Rooney seems likely to always be a child.

Shame that he's such a petulant little baby really because his game has matured even though he hasn't. Joining Man U was a great move for him as far as his game is concerned, but his constant tantrums culminating in the ridiculous act of kissing the badge in front of his own team's fans really needs to be curbed before he can even possibly consider himself in Giggsy's league.

I'm less concerned with his little hissy fits than his penchant for giving away the ball with lazy dribbling and atrocious passing, especially in the last fifteen minutes. He's going to be a big, smouldering, selfish cry baby for ever, but if he can't get his head round holding on to the ball for tactical purposes to kill off a game, Ferguson needs to pull him.

yea wht a day, liverpool should have won, chelsea deserved the win, hull deserved a draw while arsenal deserved to lose....

the only thing tht is rite is chelsea winning... but dont worry once torres is fit, watch out ppl, just to remind u guys tht we beat chelsea and manu WITHOUT torres so tht sums it all up. I hope torres gets better and start the season high flying

and you drew with Villa and Stoke and lost to Tottenham so where's the consistency?Haha. Rooney was being a bit of a little bitch yesterday; its little things like that make some people forget how well hes been playing in the last couple of games. Being a slap head makes him look like a massive thug too!

@paddy - you add it to the post just like you add any other image - click on the 'img' button above the Reply box and follow instructions. If you want to add an animation (image) as an avatar, you do it through your personal profile page.

@Martin - here's hoping that the fucker grows up.

Welcome to the forum, both of you. Feel free to introduce yourselves in the Lounge.

Rooney can be the next Paul Scholes, I guess. But not now, may be when he reach 30 years old. Rooney have a very good vision but he just can't stay calm like Paul Scholes.
