Horrific result for any Red Devil associates, pure ecstasy for the rest of the Premier League. A lack of inspiration, leaders and the silly choice of Carrick to take pentalties instead of the much cooler under pressure Anderson were the downfall of United this evening.

Chelsea have twice managed to come back from 1-0 down to take three points in their first two games, while United lacked concentration in front of goal that left them crying out for an influential figure to shake the cobwebs from their heads and deal with the, lets face it, EASY task at hand.

giggs and carrick in midfield wont win anything.anderson should have been used through the middle, and park should not be starting games.im sorry, but he and carrick just wont win games against anyone, and i pray to god fergie realises it before the 1st of september.still believe we can win the league(only that),but not with carrick and park starting regularly

Read my piece on the blog and tell me I was wrong on Monday! I think Owen got tired from text messaging his gee-gee trainer while he was doing nothing. Nice backheel in the penalty area with two minutes of overtime to go, Dmitar! I think Berbatov should be shot. All Carrick needed was a bucket of banana skins and a custard pie. But, it's okay, don't worry, Hargreaves will, umm, eventually, save us.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

omg, Ferguson will never learn, Anderson should play his normal position which is CAM which he can produce creativity and flair which united lack after c.ronaldo has gone.
remember the arsenal match, which he complete the like of cesc??

    Ferguson will never learn.

The rule of thumb is never to rely solely on practice to see where one should play...

Carrick took a couple of penalties before and was cool under the pressure, but when he NEEDS to score then he loses his bottle... We did create more than enough chances to win. I think we need Tosic to come into his own on the left and Valencia to stake a permanent spot on the right, Nani is just a complete let down.

why didnt Rooney or Anderson take the penalty?

nothing can be done about Blake's volley.

the penalty miss before HT, could be the turning point. We could have levelled and go for the winner after the break.

They'll start to score goals. The real problem is central midfield. And Liversea, every dog has his day, you haven't won it yet!

If we put Fletcher in the centre he'd have done a far better job. Breaking up play and spraying simple but decent passes to calm them down, with a few sturdy tackles thrown in for good measure, it's what United needed and what Fletch could have provided.

Fletcher would have closed down alot, maybe broken up play... thats about it, he can't pass.

What?! It's the first rule of football if your ever under performing, make short simple passes and retain the ball to get the confidence building. If there was anyone fit and capable in the squad at the minute to win the ball back and make a simple pass to the flanks or knock it about to someone else to make a killer pass then it's Fletcher. Ando, Carrick and Scholes don't fit into that role at all. Fletcher's no Beckham I admit but last time I saw he wasn't struggling to hit someone 10 yards away.

Evrything I read says Ferguson wants a striker, but there's no on out there really. Silva and Sneijder will cost a lot, but, as most everyone notes here, the real problem definitely lies in central midfield.

id take sneijder.hes played as a more defensive minded player at ajax, and while id prefer to see him operated further forward either through the middle or on the flanks,id have him deeper over gibson over carrick any day.inter have supposedly agreed an 18m fee though,so if fergie wants him he needs to move quickly.i dont see any great need for a striker,im beginning to think owen will be fine once he gets a goal and the confidence boost, its just that midfield that badly needs improvement defensively.theres all this criticism about a lack of spark from midfield, but anderson still hasnt been given his chance as an attacking mid.gojko kacar, mahamadou diarra or javi martinez to be signed by the 1st would be an absolute treat

banega is a good passer, very creative but doesnt have the steel we need.im not saying hes a bad tackler, but not good enough to fill the gap.martinez would be a far better option

After being beaten by Burnley, Wigan are very unfortunate that you gonna "visit" them today  Manchesters win with handicap is Jetbull 2.3 and hopefully, Manchester will take the lead in the first half and finish Wigan off in the second.
