    The latest episode of the Soccerlens Podcast features esteemed Guardian blogger Raphael Honigstein. Stephen Darwin and Rafa talk about all things German football, including an odd little story about getting some action on the roof of the Santiago Bernabeu.

    Have a listen, would appreciate your feedback guys.

    I really enjoy Rafa Honigstein's take on anything in football. Stephen Darwin's input is definitely underwhelming, however. He's definitely got a rude penchant for interrupting guests in that awful suburban accent as they speak. Hiring someone with more of a sense of moxy and experience like Eamon Dunphy or Shaka Hislop, or, of course, me, would improve things tremendously. I love the Guardian crew, but the idea of Soccerlens talking about a universe of football opportunities to learn about what's happening currently in discussions with pundits in, say, Argentina, Brazil, Asia and the U.S., etc.is very very appealing.

    I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

    Bobo - feedback is always appreciated. I wanted James Richardson, Jon Stewart and Russell Brand but they were busy, unfortunately :)

    Have a listen to episode 6 as well - and maybe you'll be able to give me more insights.

    My input is underwhelming hey? I'd like to see you do better :)

    And a rude penchant for interrupting guests? Did you even listen to the podcast?

    Ah well I suppose it's good to get feedback even if it is on the negative side.

    @Bobo

    I didn't notice the first time that you were pitching for a gig bobo :) why don't you send in a voice sample - mind you, I'm very nitpicky, as Stephen can testify.

    @Stephen

    The chances of those three joining us are very low Stephen, your position seems quite secure :) Having said that, I'm thinking of getting Jimbo on for a session near the end of the season.

    You'd better ficken your skin, Stephen. I definitely can and do do better and, yes, I did listen to the podcast. Whether it's Hounslow, Ruislip or Pinner--who can tell?--it's not your fault, but it's bloody awful. You need to record some Russell Brand and regroup, lad.

    My skin is quite thick enough thanks. And you do do better do you? Do you have a link to your podcast?

    By the way other than my obviously dreadful Suburban accent and my apparent way of interrupting guests, how do we go about improving the podcast? Other than getting rid of me completely ofcourse! :wink:

    Ahmed, I think you'd have to up the pay bracket somewhat to get the likes of Brand, Stewart and Richardson on board! So I think I'll do for now eh! :D

    Seriously, Stephen and Ahmed, the road is wide open. Stephen is bound to get better the more he does the job. Football Weekly can NOT be approximated, just copied in an aenemic sort of way. My suggestion would be that you look for someone who can do rapid-fire standup AND really knows football to allow Stephen and any guest to breathe. There are a few score people like this holding forth in Manc or Scouser pubs and standup /improv every night of the week. If you can find the wherewithal to create journo credentials, pay ticket money and pay for phone calls/conference calls/feeds from occasional correspondents in, say, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, the U.S., etc., I'm certain you could find lots of 'correspondents' you can call on any given week. Most of us would surely work just to gain the experience. I could also see the site reviewing books/movies, like, say, 'The Damned United' and other personal favourite books and movies. Just go to my profile to see the address for my blog. Course, there's more to me than football! I've been up most of the night after witnessing a fantastic basketball game here in Chicago between the Bulls and the Boston Celtics. Cheers!
