simple answer: HIT
complex answer....
only 2 FA Cups to show for his 3 years at Chelsea
Thats 2 more than pieces of silverware than most top flight players have over the last 2 years and nothing to be sniffed at. Granted at £120,000 his wages are high but remember that Chelsea got him for free and a year or so earlier he would have easily have been worth £12-18 in tx fees which would have equated to between £55,000 - £85,000 a week over 4 years. Minus that from his wages and the cost becomes much more reasonable for a player of his quality. Also how many managers has Chelsea had in the time since he joined???? Hasn't this hampered him????
Wiki figures
999–2002 Bayer Leverkusen 79 (27)
2002–2006 Bayern Munich 107 (44)
2006– Chelsea 73 (13)1999– Germany 92 (41)
Ballack is a great signing and totally worth the money!
never really been a world class player besides that season where he was with leverkusens CL final team
WHAT??? Ballack has been top draw for 10 years. If he had gone to United he would have been United's version of Lampard or Gerrard, personally and instantly ended Schole's career and would have dominated over the likes of Fletcher, Carrick and Hargreaves without breaking a sweat and, probably, would have made a top 5 world midfielders list quite easily. Some players thrive of consistency. Ballack is one of them.
A better question would be 'will he be worth £xxx, xxx a week for the next x amount of years' as his wages will now be really expensive and he will surley be expected to deliver more for them and at 32 is he up to it???

The problem is in Chelsea he never plays his own position. But season before when he did and scored the double against United that was his best game and after that his whole season was great.

Ballack is world class. Anyone that doesn't agree is either extremely biased or misinformed. He hasn't had the best time at Chelsea, although not all of it is his fault. When you have four managers in three years, then you're not going to have the kind of stability that you need to succeed. Mourinho wasn't high on him and looked set to unload him. Grant comes in and Ballack becomes one of Chelsea's best players. Scolari signs on and he doesn't know what to do with him. Hiddink relied on him, even though he benched him for the F.A. Cup Final.
I agree that he should have come to United. I remember being very upset when he chose Chelsea over United. I guess he really wanted to enjoy that London nightlife. At the time, I thought he was dumb to go to Chelsea since Lampard already played his position. He could have been the guy at United, but I guess we'll never know.

Five years ago Ballack was one of the best footballers in the world. He's really not a night life kind of guy. It's just about money!!! Definitely a sullen loner, Ballack, with his East German accent and 'bad attitude' is one of the leading celebrity figures of fun on German T.V.and with stand-up comedians. Despised in particular by Schweinsteiger and Podolski, Germany's coach Jogi Loew apparently has had to remove numerous pairs of shite filled boots from his locker before matches for years. Like Stefan Effenburg and my beloved Keano, he may be a complete prick, but the sum of what he brings to a team is more than what we see on the field. I think many Chelsea fans really don't appreciate how much players like Essien and Ballack bring to the table.
