well Arshavin cost us apparently 16 million, well worth it so far. are man united fools to buy valencia for 17 million? dont think he'll be half the player arsh is!!! they also bought nani for 17 million and he hasnt proved himself!

    any thooughts?

Yes, Arshavin is the better player. Valencia is 23 and Arshavin is 26 or 27 I think. Nani had a pretty good first season but yeah last season was disappointing. His problem is his decision making but I dont want to continue on this as we've already discussed this a lot of times before. Valencia has been Wigan's star for the past two seasons and now he definetely has to step up and prove himself. Arshavin was already a known international star before his move to Arsenal, especially after the Euros.

Well no question arshavin is the better player...at present at least and i think if Valencia gets any whr near arshavin than Man U hav a very good deal indeed.
Arshavin was cheaper because 1)He had been untested in a good league..many people were saying that he might not be good enough..notably Jose Mourinho.Whereas Valencia has been pretty solid for wigan
    2)He is older
3)Wigan wanted a share of the ronaldo pie..whereas Zenit knew dat Arsenal are miserly
4)Real Madrid went crazy this summer and inflated prices everywhere

I hope valencia does well for United. Just hope he is not nani number2. Nani should be loaned so Tosic can play.

Arsh is obviously the better player, but Valencia will do well for United b/c he gives them much needed speed on the wing. He'll help soften the blow of the 80 million quid man jumping ship. He'll have less responsibility at United than at Wigan, which should help him settle in...On a side note, the weakening of United and the unrest at both Liverpool (Alonzo and Macherano) and Chelsea (Terry still yet to make a public declaration of loyalty), should all work together to open the door for the Gunners to steal the title this year. With Ade all but gone, Arsenal will have better chemistry. Assuming we sign a solid DM, the league title may just end up back in North London. The Emirates is a nice place for the EPL trophy...

hey liverpool where fighting everton all season for 4th place last year and theyended up being man u' s biggest competition last year! now that ronaldos gone ur losing a guarenteed 17 goals a season. im sure u might get those from somewhere else but if ronaldo was there i'd be sure u'd get those goals but u can say u feel confident anyone else can do it for sure. so without those extra points there a big chance the gunners do take it this year.. dont think chelsea will... moght end up being arsenal vs liverpool

actually, it is better to have the goals shared among the whole team, I mean if Ronaldo was injured say 3 mths, where are we going to get the goals? Same goes for Torres or Gerrard, if they are injured where will the goals come? (Leave the Pool/United game out.)

Everyone thought where the hell is 30 goals going to come when Ruud left. Guess what we won the title after he left!!! after 3 or 4 barren seasons?

in not saying you wont get the goals... im just saying that going into the season i'd feel confident that ronaldo would chip in 15 or so goals, almost a certainty. if he stayed fit which was always. SAF isnt a idiot im sure you guys will be challenging but how many points will man united lose if those goals dont come... same when henry left we lost a certain 15 goals a season but someone else stepped up.

And Adebayor is leaving for Arsenal. Where do you think your goals are gonna come from ? Nicklas Bendtner ? HA, Gimme a Break !! Barca might turn their attention to Fabregas too, you know, when they complete the Ibrahimovic deal so your Capitano might be gone too.

Ronaldo's departure will do a world of good. Like, Hamburg said, people said the exact same thing when Ruud the Man left. We won three consecutive league titles after that. It's all talk. Let's just wait and see how the season turns out, shall we ? Let's stop arguing about 'will he score' or 'will he not'. It's really irritating listening to these lousy talks again and again. The name of this thread is really ridiculous too.

Nasri, Van Persie, Arshavin and Walcott will chip in the goals.

Well, a change of game plan will be good once in a while. :|

A quality DM signing would offer the CBs enough cover that they would not be over-exposed, as they were last year. Another striker to replace Ade and ideally (though not necessary) a better keeper (such as Frey, using Eboue as bait) would leave Arsenal in a strong position in the league. Cesc is going nowhere, at least this year...Oh and Ronaldo leaving United is a very different situation from Ruud leaving. After 3 or 4 barren seasons, United needed a major changing and shipping off an aging Van Nistelroy was a calculated risk. That is very different than selling your best player in his prime, a player who was at the heart of back to back EPL championship teams and who lead the team to back to back CL finals - winning one of those. Oh and he happened to win that little world player of the year award, too...

Almunia needs to be replaced. He is premier league quality, but if Arsenal really want to succeed, he'll need to be replaced. By who, though, is the question.

What the hell is Arsene Wenger doing though ??? He's repeatedly saying he wont be buying anyone. He's lost his top striker and now his longest-serving player and he doesnt plan to buy a replacement !!! I'd love to know what's going inside Wenger's head right now......
