The European Nations Cup has made for a fine talent showcase. The pundits seemed to write off how instrumental he was in destroying England in the qualifiers as a sort of flash in the pan. Now we know for certain, Andrei Arshavin is definitely a big game player and everyone seems to be in lust with him this morning. This is more than can be said of our brilliant Cristiano Ronaldo and his Texas-sized ego, relentless greed and a penchant to become ordinary in big matches. Wesley Sneijder, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lucas Podolski have all looked very good and very adaptable. IF Ferguson doesn't play out a season-long hissy-fit and wants a happy dressing room, then he'll please me and agree to let the pretty boy go at the very final hour of the transfer window. Of course, this means we can't get Sneijder, Ramos or Robinho; but I doubt that any of the three, save perhaps, Robinho, would want to leave sunny Madrid for rainy O.T. I think Sneijder is truly a big-game artiste, but I wonder, because he's small, as I do with Arshavin, if they will be able to take 38 games-worth of relentless Premier League stick. Schweinsteiger and Podolski both seem to be more and more can't miss players capable of comfortably working the positioning clutch, on the wing or inside. Will Bayern sell? My German friend Martin thinks Bayern will sell Schweini the pale one rather than letting him run his contract out as Michael Ballack did. Podolski will be more difficult to get than Schweini. Hoeness and Rummenigge are relentlessly, vain, greedy and vindictive individuals. Dealing with them again, after the circus involving Owen Hargreaves dragged on for so long, will not be a pleasure for our Gilly, but will ultimately be worthwhile. So...my question for everybody out there, especially Andrei, is whether Arshavin can take a beating from the likes of John Terry and Jamie Carragher on a weekly basis?

Arshavin does not need to take a beating from either Terry or Charager given that he is equally adapt at playing as a winger. But, I would have reservations about bringing him to Old Trafford.
You see, Arshavin is 27 and his main assests are his speed and vision and while the vision will only get better with age, the same cannot be said about his speed. To get to my point, I would say that he would not be a worthwhile buy for United. He would cost 10 million and his salary is already at about 60,000 per week...
Schweinsteiger would be perfect for United though. I think he is 23 and he has the power to put up with anybody and everybody in the Premier League. On top of that we do need some decent delivery for the set pieces - no disrespect to Owen, Nani or Giggs - and somebody to shoot from long range with some kind of accuracy.
I am kind of excited about Schweini or Podolski for that matter, but not Arshavin. What would be best, in my opinion would be van der Vaart. He has had his histroy with injuries, but overall, to say that he has the most taleneted left foot in football can be a bit of an understatment.
Cue the Nani jokes... -

van der vaart has been angling for a big move for over 2 years now but none of the big clubs have gone for him. my guess is they don't like his temperament. other than that he's quite good.

I think Man Utd should stick to eyeing Van der Vaart. Arshavin is a really good player, but he is 27. I'm saying that even though he looks like he is 21 he is actually starting to age. While Man Utd now need players who are going to be fresh for a while, though his technique will stay the same Arshavin's pace will start to decrease. Arshavin is happy in Russia, but I think Arshavin should hae been eyed when he was 24. At 24 he was just as good, but hardly anyone noticed him until this tournament. He wouldn't do badly at Man Utd, but I believe he should either go to Chelsea or forget it (I don't support Chelsea, I just think he'll suit them).
Rafael Van der Vaart, despite being HORRIBLY injury prone is a more suitable choice, and there has been rumours linking them
And Lukasz Podolski is interested in a move to Spurs, not Man Utd. He'll hardly ever get a game at Man Utd, competing with Tevez, Rooney, Manucho. You guys forgot about him, and any others Alex might sign

I doubt that Manucho will be much different from Dong... just a publicity buy, I think.
I agree that RvdV is horribly injury prne though.

Good point about Arshavin's age. So why is the Gaffer tripping over his bollocks trying to sign Berbatov, who is the same age? Podolski may end up at Spurs, but he'd be great at United as he can play like an old-fashioned centre-forward, on the wing, or behind Tevez. Nobody has a clue how good Manucho is. He has all the tools, and is... 27. Van Der Vaart is a delicate fellow, like Saha. He would be a big gamble. Might as well go for Ronaldinho. Better yet, Diego of Werder. Andrei, could you tell me what months the Russian football season runs? Are Russian more or less rested than other European players at this time of the year?

Lol, looked that funny on the index.
Looked like, Arse-shaving fever.
Immature I know but still... that's my nickname for him, I can see it catching on!

New member here, anyway i read and heard today that he's caught the la liga fever too, so he's dreaming of Spain like a certain player we United fans are all to familiar with.
