Do you think our midfield maestros- carrick, anderson, fletcher, scholes can match the quality midfield that all top teams possess??? arsenal have fabregas, liverpool gerrard, chelsea essien/lamps, barca xavi iniesta, real xabi/kaka/diarra/ronaldo, and so on... and what do manu have fletcher/carrick.....compare them wit the other stars and u find united lacking badly, dont u think its time we got a QUALITY midfield playmaker... I was personally hopin silva wud join us if not anyone else...but unitd frustated me yet again...

julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.

Since when has Silva been a playmaker? He's a winger/striker! Anderson was great against Spurs today and we'll have Adam Ljajic coming soon. CSKA have an excellent midfield star in Alan Dzagoev. He'll be burning all cylinders against us in a few weeks. Check him out!

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

Yeah, I like Martínez because he's tough, tall and a total competitor. Besides, it would really make Rafa the tapas waiter shite his keks!

We shall see him when the 2 sides meet in the European Cup.

On the topic, I am just happy the team was not distrupted by the international break.

Damn, Rooney cant be a captain?

Manchester United Keen On Lazio 'Keeper Fernando Muslera - Report

The Red Devils have laid eyes on the highly-rated shot stopper...

Manchester United are keen on Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Muslera as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar.

According to Sportal.it, the Red Devils have laid eyes on the Uruguayan shot-stopper. Muslera joined the Biancocelesti in 2007, and after a poor start last term, the goalkeeper has improved, attracting plenty of interest in the process.

The report suggests the Old Trafford side are looking at the 23-year-old with a view to signing him in the summer. Although Lazio have claimed their custodian is not for sale, they will likely find it hard to keep him if a good offer should come from England.

Ferguson is said to be looking at a number of candidates as an heir to Van der Sar, and Muslera is on top of his wish-list.

Reports in Italy last week claimed Lazio were ready to offer their man a new deal in an attempt to scare off Premier League interest.

Manchester United have not confirmed their intention to move for the goalkeeper.

Not necessarily smart, but useful and team-boosting. He's selfless and knows how to help his squad. That is of course unless he goes on a rampage and gets red carded. But I still think he'd be an ideal captain.

And why not use forwards as captains? Roma do it, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Maybe its the fact that strikers will always want their team to attack, wether its the right tactic or not, or, Midfielders and defenders have a better view of the whole game whereas strikers are often focussed on the final third and so miss alot.

A good captain 'works' the ref and his team for a whole game. Keano was a genius at it. Neville, Giggs and Ferdinand don't have the same kind of leadership, moxy or smarts. Rooney isn't as stupid as some might think, but I think part of what makes him so effective is that he wears his heart on his sleeve. You can't play in that state of raw emotion and be a good captain.

ok silva IS a AM/Lwinger + playmaker, and ya lez jst not become arsenal n pull out all our young "would be" future world class players n get a already established QUALITY midfielder to pull all the strings in midfield, (see wat happnd to manu's midfield in cl final)... wateva i have faith in anderson....

Manchester United To Swoop For Sevilla Striker Luis Fabiano - Report

The English champions want the prolific Brazilian to fire them to glory in the second half of the season...

Manchester United are to test Sevilla’s resolve by bidding for Luis Fabiano in the January transfer window, according to reports in the English press.

The People comments that manager Sir Alex Ferguson is an admirer of the Brazilian, who has the started the campaign in flying form for both club and country, and has decided to offer for the 28-year-old in January, despite him being ineligible for the Champions League.

Fabiano came close to a move to AC Milan earlier this year but the club could not agree a fee for the former Porto man, and much to the player’s disappointment, he remained in Andalusia.

According to the English tabloid, a source close to Fabiano said this about his future, “Luis Fabiano was unhappy with the failure of his move to AC Milan, and he has decided not to speak about his future until there is a concrete offer. He is concentrating on doing well with Sevilla, but it pleases him that big clubs are interested in him.”

Fabiano netted twice in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Real Zaragoza, adding to his double for Brazil against arch rivals Argentina in World Cup qualifying, and Ferguson sees him as the man to fire The Red Devils to their fourth Premier League title in a row.

Macheda still has a couple of season more before he starts playing regularly.

with the remaining 4, that is the same amount of strikers United have during the Treble'99 season.

but valencia know that if he has a decent or good world cup his value will rise, and they are in a position to reject bids before the WC

I'm sure Duffman is right. A lot will depend on whether Ribery is happy or not come Summer. Ferguson may have been hoping the market would cool, but there'll be a lot of dosh out there for the likes of DiMaria, Lavezzi, Hamsik, Ashley Young and Arda Turan after the tournament is over.

Eikrem and Petrucci won't develop into world beaters, and we're not even sure about Ljajic, who's more of a winger, really.
