Yeah, I like Sneijder's style, but it looks like he'll need some very coercive persuasion from the Gaffer to leave that sunny bench in Madrid.

Haha making your loyalties very clear Ahmed! If we're gonna pick up anyone Dutch from Madrid it's gotta be Sneijder. We're a bit poor with dead ball specialists at the minute, and Tosic isn't a first team player yet. He can offer more dimensions to the team than both Van Der Vaart and Huntelaar.

Ahmed, Rooney and Owen NEVER played well together for England, but their relationship has been frought with problems because of Owen's gambling connections and his 'debt collector' friends from Liverpool. I would think that would have been Ferguson's other major concern when signing him apart from injuries. As with Messi, the major concern is whether he ruined the muscle tissue around his knees and hams when he was bulking up with HGH and steroids at seventeen.

even if he fails to make the grade, Fergie will just lose abit of his pride, but he will sleep well every night.

actually i am surprised no one in Real are as desperate as Owen to leave their club, i mean c'mon, 3 top stars arriving at your club and you rather rot the rest of your career on the bench?

I have a really good feeling about this.

Although I disliked Owen (mainly because he used to play for Liverpool!), I did feel sorry for the bad luck he encountered! No football should have to endure that.

But, in all honesty, Fergie wouldn't of signed him if he didn't have plans...

I think he'll be a success. Did you guy's read the brochure they put about for Owen? It does explain a lot of his injury problems, and none of them are recurring which is a good sign.

Newcastle's backroom staff was forever changing so nobody there could file a decent report and keep him in check, United do things very differently. Solksjaer wasn't injury free but he was a quality squad player, and Owen won't complain about being on the bench like Tevez.

Whether he makes it or not at United, Fergie has just seen a minimal-risk deal that could really pay off.

He will sign on a free, take a very basic salary with a pay-as-you-play cause, which, if he plays well, could take him back up close to the money he was earning at Newcastle, just incase he needed futher motivation

So, even if he is a flop, United kick Liverpool where it hurts before ending one of their favourite son's careers, which is priceless, in my opinion.

I just read a really good article at manutd.com by a fan. Said all the stuff and convinced me that Owen CAN be a masterstroke ! ManUtd will ease him back from any niggling injuries he gets, he'll have all the time in the world and even if he does 'flop', he cant be called a flop at all because there was no transfer fee and he is certainly taking a reasonable amount of pay-cut.
