It seems that the players that played so well last year are not playing anywhere near the same level this time around. Carragher has been in decline for the last 6 to 12 months, Mascherano seems to still be affected by Argentina&#39;s woes as well as Barcelona turning his head, Torres and Gerrard are always injured. The only player really playing to his usual standard is Pepe Reina and possibly Benayoun (although he&#39;s still too inconsistent for my liking!)
