Footy 24/7 Review – Football News Portal
Footy 24/7 is a new advertiser on Soccerlens (to advertise your website, please see this page) and a Soccerlens partner – here’s an overview of their website and what they offer.
Footy24/7 is a football news portal currently covering the English Premier League. The homepage shows all stories for the premiership or you can filter by selecting your team on the right.
Upon selecting your team you can then view a selection of items:
News – From traditional media like the BBC and official sites through to fan sites & blogs. So it’s basically like NewsNow without the spam…don’t expect to find any sensational, speculative or made-up rubbish from the likes of Tribal football.
Videos – These are pulled in from Youtube and can be viewed in a popup player without leaving the site. Most videos tend to be a mixture of goals, specific player videos or fans in the pubs/stands
Pictures – From the great Flickr service now owned by Yahoo. Again great user submitted content, this time photos from fans.
Podcasts – These are provided by the new football podcasting site Football FanCast . The Spurs/Chelsea/Watford podcasts are doing particularly well and they are currently on the lookout for podjockeys if you are up for it (still space for a lot of the Northern teams)
Finally is the RSS feeds section. Rather than subscribe to lots of different feeds for the premiership or your supported team, the idea is that you have one feed which pulls in stories from all the popular sources so it’s easier to stay on top of the news. You can also receive a daily email via FeedBurner if you still haven’t jumped on the RSS bandwagon
In the few months the site has been running it already has over 500 RSS subscribers and a few thousand uniques each day. If one of your favourite sites isn’t already listed please let them know here. Feedback is also appreciated via their contact form or via comments here.
