"They have fame and fortune, WORK SHORT HOURS and live in the type of luxury that the rest of us can only dream or be jealous about."

Everything in this article is very well written and, for all anybody knows, true, but this little line has been bothering me since I read it. I can forgive one line in an article, since I've written some things that I look back on and wonder just what I was trying to get across, but I still want to explain why I think it's wrong.

Top footballers have physical demands placed on them that a white-collar worker sitting behind his desk can only dream of. When they're not training with a ball, they're in the gym, or running, or trying to fine-tone the mental aspects of their game.

The recovery that is necessary will have some people saying that professional footballers work short hours, but couple those three to five hours a day (depending on which day) of physical work, then the travel before and after match days, and then the matches themselves -- not to mention the dreaded pre-season training -- and the work is not short.

So, Graham, forgive me for being picky. The article was great, but that one line had to be addressed :)

but I wouldn't have thought £15,000 wasn't out of the question.

Last I heard, The Sun was paying 50 grand a pop..or blow by blow, as you said it.

Enough to shag a baller and tell all? You do this every year and it's a decent living!
