I am a god as well at FM and you should have absolutely no problems wining the FA Cup final with a team like Arsenal. You might need to make some additions to the team but overall it has more than just enough quality to take you all the way.

There really should be no problem in winning all the games in a season provided you have the right players and good tacticts. I have done this repeatedly. In one season I even got to Christmas without conceding a single goal in the league (that with FM06).

I agree with your points, but at the same time, there is some sense to it. I can't imagine a season's bad performance costing you your job - indeed League performance is always going to take priority with the board - but if you're failing to reach the semi's in successive seasons, then thats more than just bad luck.

The whole confidence feature should be looked at as more of a joint opinion from the fans and the board in my opinion - representative of the demands of both.

Of the game itself, I'm quite happy. I haven't been able to settle into a proper FM game with Middlesbrough since the now legendary 01/02, only FM06 came close with a fantastic Hartlepool career. The main offput for me is the lack of realistic data at the Riverside, but that finally seems fixed. (I fear the bitching on the SI forums may have lost the previous researcher his job)

I like it. Its not fantastic, but overall, I was quite pleased with the game. I shall be purchasing it anyway.

I think this article was reasonably good, actually. True, it has more to do with the nature of cup competitions than Football Manager, but any debate about football will naturally have to lead back into FM if SI are attempting to capture as far as possible the real experience of managing. Indeed, I agree with everything you say about toning down cup expectations; of course, as you have been unable to finish a season, we don't know whether not reaching the semi-finals of the cup (and yet still winning the league, for example) would significantly mess up the board confidence bulletins. Who knows. You could always try writing to SI, though?

Ive been playing FM2008 demo for a week or so. Comments Id make:

As with most versions there are only a few formations which work. With the wrong formation it is quite common as Man U to lose most of your games

Most players are unavailable in the sense that you have to pay crazy money to get hold of them...3x the asking price is not uncommon. This makes it boring because there are only a small range of avaliable players you can choose from. While this is probably realistic it makes gameplay boring

Arsenal bid 24 million for Ronaldo lol
