This list is ridiculous ! ... what is it ? do you think by putting in a load of foreign names it makes it somehow more learned and authentic ?

The greatest goalkeeper that has ever played football is Pat Jennings and he's not even on this list. Mind you would he want to be ???

Hmm...never another chilavert?? Do u mean his goal scoring ability?? If thats the case, Campos and Higuita scored goals as well, with Campos even hitting in a Bicycle Kick, though it was as a striker. And in terms of free kicks, Rogerio Ceni is the leading goalscorer according to FIFA and IFFHS from freekicks or otherwise. True, in actual Gking terms they werent quite on par with him but these people have all emulated CHilavert.......

@Samuel

Rene Higuita? For real? Let's stop the joking. He makes one ridiculous acrobatic save with the heels of his feet at Wembley (against England in a friendly) and he's considered a good keeper. Better yet, let's remember his complete stupidity at Italia'90 where he came out halfway dribbling only to lose the ball to a 38 (38!!!) year old Roger Milla and single handedly put Colombia out of the World Cup. Oscar Cordoba and Farid Mondragon were far better keepers for Colombia than that drug cartel clown.

Vic. Still don't agree with this consensus that Maier is a legend. I don't advocate that keepers of lesser teams necessarily are great and legendary keepers. And of course in today's market, a good keeper is going to be snatched up by a good club. I think on an individual basis and talent, keepers like Schumacher in the 1980s (when the talent of international footballers in my opinion was at its peak), and Kahn (ironically who Maier dotted to the point where he was sacked by Klinsmann after a row over Lehmann v Kahn for 2006) could be considered better and far more stretched to prove their talent. But opinions are opinions and nothing more I guess.

@munichred - it's interesting how most top young footballers lists don't have many keepers in them. Having said that, it's a good idea for an article, will add this to the list.
