Much is made of how close Ferguson came to the sack before Mark Robbins and the 1990 FA Cup win steered the ship in the right direction. Since then, United have never been far off the top, whereas other successful clubs have had the odd huge peak but moments of trouble and strife too - see Arsenal and Chelsea this season. These articles are just a bit of fun that mainly just go to highlight the failure of other clubs (and England) to frequently come up with the right formula, something Ferguson manages to do every time he is faced with a big new challenge.
