Esteghlal FC vs Persepolis FCÂ
World Soccer Magazine declared the Tehran derby as the most important derby in Asia. First contested in 1968, Esteghal FC currently hold the advantage having won 20 games compared to Persepolis’s 15 victories. Persepolis’s supporters traditionally represent the working class, whilst Esteghal’s support can be traced back to the Iranian upper class.Â
One of the most heated matches between the two sides occurred on the 29th of December 2000. After constant bickering throughout the match, Esteghal’s goalkeeper Parviz Broumand punched Persepolis’s striker Payan Rafat in the face. A brawl broke out between the players, inciting fans who took the violence to the streets. Over 250 city buses were damaged, whilst three players and 60 fans were arrested.Â

The Tehran derby for me! Never been to Iran and it sounds like a fascinating country. Would love to see how they support their teams. Don’t hold back, I’m guessing.
Mohan Bagan vs East Bengal is my pick from this list, the stadium fits 120,000 people! It’s usually a full house as well.
Some of the Adelaide v Victory games have had a pretty good atmosphere, more so back at Olympic Park though.

Mohan Bagan vs East Bengal. This derby is overfilled with violence, history and passion and the 120 thousand fans never fail to live up to their fanatics billings by rocking the stadium to the ground with their noise. World Soccer Magazine must update their list.
You have no idea how the derby between Esteghlal and Persepolis is. People live with these two teams everyday. Just go and watch their games. Their match is next month Feb. 13th.
By the way, I didn’t know India has good soccer teams.
