Great article.

Really nice to see some objective writing regarding Spurs, where most writers have either been completely hyping the "crisis" or else suggesting Harry's some overnight miracle-worker. Last night's result at the Emirates suggests maybe the latter is closer to the truth, but common sense points out Arsenal could easily have won it had they not stopped playing around the 89th minute.

To Jonathan and Paul (above), I'd like to point out that Jol's Spurs were rarely disappointing, but frequently unlucky. Ramos' Spurs were often disappointing, but - at least until the League Cup win - very lucky. Harry's Spurs, on the basis of two games, seem to have the best of both, so maybe he can avoid too much disappointment. He's made a career out of polishing turds. Here's hoping Spurs turn out to be the shiniest of the lot.

Oh, and props for the title, Gary - very apt :)

I think Redknapp will make a bit of a difference but as the old saying goes, "you can't polish a turd!". Not really sure where Jonathan is coming from with the comment about Redknapp jumping ship. Think you forgot about Arsene Wenger!

Nice article. Spurs seem to be in a permanent cycle of optimism followed by disappointment followed by optimism. But though Redknapp's character is really quite questionable, he is a very good manager. I predict that in one year's time Spurs, after a mini-revival, will be bottom of the Premiership and Redknapp will jump ship to Arsenal. You heard it here first.

Yeah how things change so quickly.

Redknapp is certainly a good manager and has what it takes to get them out of trouble. However they have some tough fixtures coming up and he needs to make changes quickly. A better goalkeeper could be a good start!

I feel a bit sorry for Ramos and time isn't given in management any more, if it was I believe he could have made a good team at Tottenham after the next transfer window if good signings were made. Having said that, there's no excuses for them to be at the bottom of the table at this stage of the competition and he made some interesting tactical decisions to say the least.

I'm not a Tottenham supporter but I definitely wouldn't want to see them go down, the club's too big for the Championship.

It'll be interesting to see where they end up with Redknapp at the end of the season...
