Fabio Aurelio To Move To Liverpool

Rafa Benitez has been tracking Aurelio for quite some time, and with the left-back’s contract expiring on Friday, he is expected to travel to Anfield over the weekend to sign a four-year deal for Liverpool.

Aurelio and Benitez go back to Rafa’s days in Valencia, and this signing will be another step in the Benitez’s ‘Spanish Revolution’ at Liverpool. Not many can argue with his signings though – Under Benitez Liverpool have won the Champions League last year and finished a point behind Manchester United in 3rd place this season. Add to that a squad that is finally stable both in Europe and in the Premiership and you have the fourth ‘power’ of the Premiership finally showing its strength.

The one thing that will bother Benitez is the lack of quality strikers at Anfield. Peter Crouch (below), is not anyone’s ideal striker despite his strong linkup play with the Liverpool midfield. Robbie Fowler is too old, while Cisse’s leg is broken and Morientes has already left. They have bought Craig Bellamy, but the Reds desperately need to buy another striker if they want to stand any chance of challenging Chelsea, Arsenal and United in the Premiership (not to mention if they want to go far in the Champions League).

Crouch misses an open goal against T & T
