Estonia 0-3 England - Sir David Beckham & Goal Videos

England beat Estonia 3-0, Cole scoring the first after 36 minutes (Bridge-Crouch-Cole) and then Beckham providing two excellent crosses for Crouch and Owen to score in the second half.
David Beckham is back ladies and gentlemen, and he’s taking England to Euro 2008. So far, that is.
Goals and group standings after the jump.

Couldn’t resist this one:
Group E Table
Croatia (Played 7, Pts 17)
Israel (Played 8, Pts 17)
Russia (Played 7, Pts 15)
England (Played 7, Pts 14)
Macedonia (Played 7, Pts 7)
Estonia (Played 7, Pts 0)
Andorra (Played 7, Pts 0)
With Russia holding Croatia to a draw, England have some breathing room - wins against Croatia and Israel at Wembley will set them up nicely and after that it’s a matter of getting past Hiddink’s Russia.
Match Preview
England are too tense - they were tense before Andorra and as a result took 45 minutes to come to terms with the fact that they could sit back and pick the opposition apart by keeping the ball and passing it around.
Against Brazil, England fought like dogs but were still too tense - however, they will do better against Estonia for two reasons:
One, Crouch is starting instead of Smith, so you can expect some chances to land England’s way.
Two, Estonia are not Brazil, and as a result Gerrard will have more freedom to attack.
Can England lose this? That’s the question everyone’s asking now because the media has absolutely no faith in McClaren’s ability to lead England to a win. I prefer to put my faith in the players - Beckham and Gerrard can help England win, Crouch creates chances, Owen is due a goal and Joe Cole will relish the chance to run at the Estonian defense.
Who will start for England?
I’d like McClaren to play with Brown at right-back but he could go with Phil Neville or Carragher again. King and Terry in the center, Wayne Bridge as left back, with the midfield staying the same and Crouch replacing Smith up front.
Losing to Estonia will be disastrous - A win pulls them level with Israel on points and gives them a fighting chance of topping the group as long as they beat Russia, Israel and Croatia at home.

crouch is definately a better choice for england, as smith hardly touched the ball against brazil, let alone influence the game. he shud still be given chances in the future however. i think this should be last chance lampard, if a good perfomance isnt given mcclaren should partner carrick with gerrard in midfield definately, or perhaps gerrard and hargreaves when he returns. for me, hargreaves and lennon perfomed really well in the world cup, unfortunately lennon is injured now.
I’d like to see:
Robinson
Caragher
Terry
King
Bridge
Cole
Carrick
Gerrard
Beckham
Crouch
Owen
Defoe comes on to replace Owen if he’s still struggling
Downing for Cole if he gets knackered
Lampard for Carrick if we need more attack and the defence is holding up
Either way I’ll be sorely disappointed if we perform under the standard of the Brazil game as we showed a wee bit of class in for the first time in ages that game.
I’m torn. I want England to win but then I want McClaren sacked because even if we scrape through the the finals we are never going to achieve anything significant with this monotone half-wit as manager.
I go for Fred Titmuss upfront and Zebedee off the Magic Roundabout playing ‘in the hole’.
My God life’s boring without proper League football. Roll on August.
much as I hate fat frank, against a team like estonia there’s no real need for a holding midfielder like carrick/hargreaves. gerrard and lampard should both be able to camp out around the box and do their thing.
It had also been speculated that mclaren will start dyer at right back, which could also prove to be a good idea. england shouldn’t have to worry that much about defending tonight, and dyer will add some pace to the right hand side, and give england a right sided option when beckham inevitably starts chasing the ball in the middle of the park.
if englnd didnt have frank lampard they world get stuffed! i dont knw why ppl dnt like him!
Well the match has been won. Was Becks the man of the match? Nice to see that the England fans showed some support to Becks when he went off. I thought he was going to be in for a rough ride.
[sarcasm] Who would have guessed that David Beckham would be England’s best player, that Joe Cole can score against crap opposition, that Crouch scores goals more often than not and that Owen would break his duck?
Maybe I should take up betting or something.
[/sarcasm]
Take your points on board nelly but…
Lampard was once again largely anonymous with very few forward passes.
I don’t dislike him but we never quite get the same Frank as at Chelsea. That’s why I’d like someone like Carrick who can pass the ball about a bit…
Jenas didn’t get enough of a chance to make an impact - it woul,d be interesting to give him slightly longer because he was on fire at the end of the season for Spurs
Lampard nearly cost england the game, his passings were hell hell lousy yesterday. Still remember he was passing at England’s defense area. Count him lucky estonia’s striking force aint good enough to capitalize their golden chance.
Btw, since when beckham got knighted?
How can people yalk so bad of lampard. Dont you remember who was the england best scorer in the qualyifying round?. Please Francophobes dont say that they were diflected because they werent. The guy is just not having his best time. With Chelsea he was very important scoring alot of goals last season. Just give him confidence and time and he will be at his best level.
i would like to see:
Robinson
Caragher Terry(C) King Shorey
Downing Hargreaves Gerrard Beckham
Smith
Owen
SUBS:Foster, Brown,
c mon fwank lampard aint gonna silence the critism he may score but soo far is game whislt playin for england is poor and boring. he has the power in his football capabilities to do far better but he can never get of his fat arse too do them
I think its time that players like Wes Brown are dropped. The only reason he is included is because he plays for Manchester United, and has looked outclassed against Brazil and uncomfortable in the Estonia game. Surely, it would have been more beneficial to play an up and coming regular starter, such as Leighton Baines or Glen Johnson, who would’ve vastly benefited, both in terms of confidence and experience by playing.
go holland
van persie and robben gizz all over crouch and becks
