Cantona…Cantona…Cantona!!! Eric Cantona Scores For Manchester United!

Came across this video link of a Cantona goal from 96, amazing, amazing stuff from Le God.

I’d like to think that one of the current crop of stars – Rooney, Ronaldo, Anderson – have that sort of confidence on the pitch but despite their explosive talents none of them have that authority or the personality. Having said that, they do have his penchance for the sublime, if only they could pull those goals off more often icon smile Cantona...Cantona...Cantona!!! Eric Cantona Scores For Manchester United!

    You ‘came across‘ this video?
Isn’t it like the signature Cantona goal? Rather THE goal. When I think Cantona, that clip is usually the one that first pops into my mind.

Hopefully that’s not what you exactly meant. :)

Apart from the greatness of the goal (and it’s timing, coming as it did when King Eric was getting a little stick) it was the celebration that makes these things timeless.

Damn!!! it’s nice seeing these videos of Le God again.
I found myself laughing out loud for the brilliant arrogance of the goal celebration. It’s like a KING standing on the balcony, waiting for the opportune moment to…start the cheer! Brilliant!

Do you perhaps have a link to the “flick” goal. The one where he receives a deep-long pass (I think it was from Beckham) and then flicked the ball with his outside foot, over his own head and volley the ball into the net. ALL THIS WHILE RUNNING AT FULL THROTTLE!
To me, that was his best goal ever.
