the whole article is totally right. But seeing England playing today changed my mind. Walcott is a brilliant player and i belive it will take maximum 2 years to become the best player in the world! Actually i think Walcott brought a breathe of freshness to the team today!

England's display today brought back a long awaited smile. At the very least, a grin. Walcott finally given the chances has pulled through the ranks and scored a HAT TRICK?!?! wow and Rooney finally ending his drought. I hope this was a showing of what's to come from Capello and the England team. well done!

Just to clarify, I meant historically, not just in the past year (when England resembled say, Denmark). Spain, much like England, have a habit of reaching quarters a lot with the odd semi. Up until this year, they venerated 1960 as this sort of lost world.

Its useless to argue that England at their best will beat Spain. No way(not with the versatility of Spain's midfield), and anyway that's not the point. The real problem is that the players continuously put up a display of stubborn mediocrity under different managers. In a few hours, we will see whether Capello has changed anything...............

on their day england could beat spain. Thats at their best, will they ever be there? probably not, at their worst would probably be something along the lines of australia.
I dont think its exactly adapting that is the problem, maybe they just not used to playing on the fly. In england many of the high level players are bought up from very young to play in a certain style because they play in junior clubs. Alot of places like brazil, argentina and so on have players who have since young just played on the streets and when they are 14-15 they begin to trial for clubs. By then their ball skills, technique and creativity is much higher, then they are taught discipline and passing drills. Many times when i watch england they just appear to either struggle through because they keep trying the same shit again and again, no creativity(cept j.cole but he is hot and cold)

at best Spain at worst Denmark? Excuse me, Spain is arguably one of the best teams in the world at the moment and England was never, is not, and will never be, one of the best teams in the world. Denmark is also far better than England in many aspects. In my opinion, England is one of the worst teams in Europe. I'd say that Belarus and Ukraine are much better footballing nations than England. So are Russia and Turkey, by a far shot. England are horrific.

Ha! That's a fairly big whoops (and betrays my age), but in my defense I would say the problem extends to most of the home nations...
