Dear Brian, points well made, and taken. I don't want to denegrate any english player or the system, but surely I am not an idiot for disagreeing with it, and we can have a reasonable debate.I would dearly love to see england win euro or the world cup, or wales, scotland or ireland. Apart from the one small insult, I enjoyed reading your reply. Good luck to you. Larry.

As a true Croatian who was supposed to live in England and who's been in England a few times, including this year, I feel obliged to say - I love you, I love your country, I love the tradition and the people, I even fell in love in England. I think only best of you.
But the best thing about Croatia is that we are a small country - our football team is a simbol of our country, it shows how Croatians are- united and warm-hearted. Maybe we don't have the money, and maybe we have not as good of a life standard. But, never ever ever was one Croatian embarrased to say he or she is a Croatian!

Actually Larry, I call you stupid since your original comment was frightfully dumb, unintelligent, and completely devoid of any common sense that could possibly express a single decent thought on the situation.

You blame the entire failure of England's national side on two reasons. The first is the PRemier League, where you state that too many sides have foreign owners and foreign lineups. It is unfortuante that you are completely retarded regarding this issue.

Foreign owners make little difference in how the English national side actually performs. If the owners do anything, it is to provide money to bring in the best club competition for English players in the form of international players. How does reducing the amount of these overseas stars help the Three Lions at all? It doesn't; if you did, you would be reducing the best competition for England's best players, who would then cakewalk against the obvious lack of talent that would replace foreign talent from the English academies and youth systems.

One becomes the best by playing the best; you seem to suggest that Terry, Lampard, Gerrard and Co. could possibly be better internationally by playing less skilled players on a regular basis. Do you know how pathetic that sounds?

In regards to firing the FA, keep in mind that the recent English struggles have only been centered around Euro 2008. On a whole, English futility in major competitions, a longer period of time than the current FA has presided over, makes no difference on the current FA. It is obvious that you want to blame the FA, but why? The turnover in the organization has been in existence for the entire span of England's futility. Rather than the FA, place the blame on the underperforming players and the lack of clutch play that has seemingly haunted this team for at least the last several years.

So, they're bringing back the home championship, and calling it the Celtic Cup. England has not agreed to participate as yet, but I'm sure they will. (After all, considering the opposition, they may be able to win something for a change; discounting the world cup win in 1466...sorry, 1966.) Now, there's the bait, where are the fish.
