Fat Boy finally on his way out of the England team.

Hope Lamps doesn't sit on the far end of the subs bench or he'll tip the whole thing over.

At least Wembley will have increased revenue from meat pie sales going up 10-fold.

If it ain't broke then don't fix it! England played well in the last two games with the same team, why change it. Hopefully this will finally show to Mclaren that we can't play Gerrard and Lampard in the same team. I'm hoping he'll now stick with Gerrard.
I also think he should have learnt that we need to have someone to play alongside and get the best out of Owen, even if this does mean he has to drop Rooney

Who would have been dropped? SWP? He has no replacement at the moment. Owen? Who are we going to replace him with, Defoe? McClaren doesn't trust Defoe with his dog, let alone a striking role. Barry? He's gotten his chance after a long time and he took it well. Heskey? Ditto.

The players who could have been dropped were Joe Cole and Paul Robinson. Cole played better against Israel than against Russia but was below par (his par, at least) overall, and Robinson had little to do.

The two players who could have been dumped didn't do much - what pressure?

Ahmed,

I think McClaren cannot give anyone a long run in the team unless they are spectacular (Barry?). In fact I think that England played better this time around because some of the players knew that they will be dropped if they do not perform.

McClalren needs to keep this mentality among his players. He needs them to feel the pressue so that they are forced to play well.
