Manchester United fans were left disappointed (or may be not) with the news that Edinson Cavani had rejected the chance to move elsewhere this summer. The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, amidst reports from France that he is unsettled at PSG, but the striker confirmed yesterday that he would stay with the French champions this summer.

Cavani is now playing the role of an intermediary in luring Manchester United target Angel di Maria to Parc des Princes. Readers of Soccerlens might be knowing that Manchester United and PSG are both interested in signing Di Maria. The French giants are favourite to sign him, with Marca reported last week, they are even prepared to dish out €80m to secure his services.

“Di Maria is a fantastic player and he’d be welcome at PSG” said Cavani, in a recent interview as noted by AS.

PSG however are facing difficulties in splashing such ridiculous dosh on Di Maria. Having already signed David Luiz from Chelsea for an astronomical transfer fee, they can hardly afford to go with another marquee signing (need to comply with FFP rules), unless they sell few players to balance the book.

Manchester United are also thought to be interested in him but hard to see them spending such quoted amount for one single player, especially when they have other immediate priorities to look after.
