€55m Brazilian denies reports of ‘rumoured’ move to Arsenal

Zenit Saint Petersburg’s General Director Maxim Mitrofanov has squashed reports that the Russian club would be selling Brazilian forward Hulk to Arsenal after the World Cup. Mitrofanov also mentioned that the Russian club haven’t received any offers for the former Porto hitman.

Earlier in the week, an imposter NBC journalist Micheal Stafford had claimed that Arsenal had submitted a £20m to Zenit to acquire the services of the dazzling 27 year old forward. There were also reports that Arsenal would also table an improved £26m bid to complete the player’s medical before the World Cup begins next week.

However the credibility of these sources are yet to be verified and now that Zenit have clearly denied a move for the star player effectively means the rumours have no standing ground. Jonathan Tannenwald, who is a reliable source from the United States too squashed the claims made by Stafford.

Hulk moved to Zenit in a whopping €55m move from Portuguese giants Porto in the summer of 2012 and has enjoyed a stunning 2013-14 season scoring 21 goals and grabbing 8 assists in 32 appearances for the Russian outfit.

There is no doubt that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign a striker in the summer but it is highly unlikely that Hulk will join the Gunners in the near future.

Chelsea expect to sign £32m Spain International by Tuesday

  1. All arsenal fans will be happy if arsenal sign the like of loic remy, balotelli, jackson martinez and of course hulk.

  2. Hulk is a great striker that will be a great signing for Arsenal,he is agile also have strength and shot

  3. As long as Giroud is shown an exit door, then I will be a happy Arsenal supporter. Even if we don’t anyone. Walcott will lead the line. That guy Giroud he falls like a toddler, but is physically built. The Ox and Gnabry can cover the right flank.
But I need these players to be at emirates: Pedro, Khedira, and Insigne.
I want these players out: Giroud, Diaby, Park, and Arteta

    • Why would you want a 20-goal scorer out of the side? That’s completely insane. Giroud has proven he can get the job done and has proven durable. I’m not saying Arsenal don’t need another striker, we do, but it should be someone that can play WITH Giroud. Remy comes to mind. He’s is available and affordable. Vela and Campbell also other reasonable options to provide depth. This leaves cash for someone like di Maria. And we’ll still need a RB, CB and CDM. Getting rid of Giroud is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard a “Gooner” say this transfer window.
