Drogba Whores Out to Milan, Inter, Real and Barcelona | Who’s Leaving Chelsea Next?

For a man who admitted to diving in a live interview before recanting his mistake on air, Didier Drogba is not exactly the most intelligent of footballers. You may find this petty, but (lack of) intelligence has a lot to do with what Drogba is doing at Chelsea (engineering his exit from the ‘broken’ club in the most brash and inappropriate way possible).
Like all things Drogba, his interview (which is due to come out today and was appropriately leaked to generate buzz (and more sales)) reeks of emotion and ambition, both themes underlined by an overpowering desire to succeed. It is this drive that has taken Drogba from being a nothing striker, almost looked over, to one of the most feared strikers in Europe (when he’s fit).
So Drogba wants to leave Chelsea, and he wants the grandeur of Barcelona, the pomp of Real Madrid, the nouveau-riche of Inter (most like his current home, Chelsea?) and the elitism of Milan, who have been after him before. Drogba leaving Chelsea would make the Premier League a poorer place in terms of talent (just as Mourinho leaving Chelsea made the PL poorer), but other than Chelsea fans you’d be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn’t celebrate him leaving England the way non-Arsenal fans celebrated Henry leaving Arsenal.
My bet’s on Milan - Drogba will fit well in their system, they’ve been after him before and they’re a striker short, as things are. Inter could swap strikers with Chelsea (Adriano to Stamford Bridge), so could Barcelona (Ronaldinho or Eto’o?), and Real Madrid are the poisonous attraction that no player with grandoise ambitions can reject.
However this plays out, Chelsea are in a pickle. Talk of Drogba’s contract will do them no good - forcing a player to stay is stupid on a club’s part, especially when they stand to earn a pretty sum (and perhaps even recoup their investment) on Drogba.
So what do you guys think? Which of the four clubs (AC Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona) will Drogba go to? And perhaps more importantly…
Who’s leaving next though? Ballack, Sheva, Lampard, SWP, Joe Cole? Speculate away, ladies and gents, while you enjoy one of the most poignant images of Drogba’s career at Chelsea:

I think saying “whores out” implies something that you shouldn’t be implying. He is unhappy with the treatment his mentor received and is making it clear that it isn’t where he wants to be.
I think he would be welcomed in Milan considering their striker situation with Gilardino not yet finding himself.
Fuck Adriano. If Grant and Roman bring him in, I will boycott my beloved Blues unti administrative changes are made.
We are already in a pickle up top wih Drogba. There is no one behind him, save Pizzaro, that is experienced, and even Pizzaro, while a good fit for the system, is not Premier League battle tested.
If Drogba leaves, the Blues definitely have to sign at least two strikers; one will only leave them in a worse position than they are, because if we lose Drogba, there is probably only two or three strikers in the world that could come in and produce as he does, when healthy.
IF he leaves: My bet is Italy. I don’t think Barcelona will make an effort to sign such a physical striker in a move that would require them to jettison Ronaldinho or Etoo. Real Madrird has Robinho and RVN, and Inter is always overrated in my opinion. Milan makes the most sense. They could partner him with Gilardino and Ronaldo and have a sick attacking rotation that would rival Barca’s as the world’s best.
Throw him in the reserves if he’s acting unprofessional.
It’s not as though Roman needs the money, and it would send out a clear message to anyone else wanting to “whore” themselves out to the rest of Europe.
He’d soon re-discover his love for all things Chelsea then.
moratti may well throw money around in a manner similar to that of chelsea in the last 4 years, but they are a traditional giant, not one of europes’s nouveau riche - maybe parma of the late 90’s would fit that description better.

In a way, whats wrong with what Drogba is doing? I dont like him, nor do I think he is the big player he is frequently made out to be, but he has balls(hope you understand what I’m referring to). Its high time someone publicly spoke out against “corporate football whoring”. Why dont we see any “Red boys” say anything against the Glazers who are piling their sky high debts on their favourite team? Why didnt we see any reaction from the Birmingham blues boys when their prospective Hongkong based owner said it is his dream to field a birmingham side with 11 chinese players? In such a scenario, it is indeed commendable that someone speaks out with such guts………..
Yeah from what i know drogba will be the first fly to drop from chelsea, then ballack, lampard etc,we don’t need a player like him at barأ§a,but he wil fit in nicely with the rossonerri
Hey Ahmed love your writing, hate this one though. I read what Drogba had to say and while much is “unprofessional” in terms of a employee/employer relationship what do you expect when one of the greatest managers in blues history let alone our generation is not allowed to do his job and disgarded as if his accomplishments mean nada. What would Didier be without “the special one”. I applaud Drogba in as much he felt that someone had to say something truthful and emotional and not prepared by the media department (I would hate to be in that dressing room on training days), however chelsea brass has already demonstrated that they have no nor do they want any connection to their team by their disregard for the disharmony their actions have caused. Oh and by the way it worked for Gallas (remember the OG threat) so there is a method behind the his “madness” or lack of intelligence as it was put.
Inter don’t need him or want him, he’ll go to AC.
And Brian W, I think Chelsea are really overrated.
drogba to MU! Completing the championship jigsaw!
Chelsea will not be affected by Drogba going at all. Watch them make a world record move for David Villa if the Ivorian leaves the club.
Lampard will leave next, to join Jose in Turin.

Drogba recants his comments and issues his full committment to the club.
Of course this would happen, but I don’t buy it much. I believe all of us Blues supporters expect Drogba to leave at season’s end.
I think it’s AC Milan. He was all over the Italian papers this summer with AC Milan making offer after offer, so i think they’ll jump at the occasion because they’re one striker short. Inter is way too loaded, and I think even Moratti doesn’t have that much money. Barcelona won’t want to overload their strikeforce even more, and Real Madrid may make an offer but I think they’re good as they are. If Shevchenko leaves, though, which I think he will, Chelsea will need two strikers, because we can’t get along with Malouda (midfielder-striker), Kalou, and Pizarro for the whole season. GO THE BLUES!!!!
And Jose isn’t going to Turin, and I know because I’m a hardcore Juve fan. We would welcome Lampard, but I don’t think he’ll fit in because we’re already signing either Quaresma or Lucho Gonzalez from Porto in exchange for Tiago. But it is true Almiron isn’t at UCL level, Nedved is old, Palladino is too young, so we could do with Lampard. And wouldn’t it be funny if Mourinho replaced Ranieri like at Chelsea? History repeats itself… or not. GO JUVE & THE BLUES!!!
Man Utd need a striker, Drogba perfect for it. They should at least try to bid for him. Though hardly think that chelsea will go for it
Man U need a player willing to sit on the bench for a while, Drogba won’t do that, look there’s NO CHANCE he’ll come to Man U like…
what a prick how could you say something like this in the middle of a club crisis!! Bastard i hope all these clubs say they dont want him and he is benched at Chelsea like Sheva
- Michael Ballack - Hmm… Really I think he has dropped a (his price for his quality) since coming to Chelsea, coincidence that it happened when he changed clubs, the WC or just age he is not as good as he used to be. Real Madrid maybe, AC Milan, Inter, Juve all MAYYYBEEEE but I think he will go back to Bayern Munich, and he will become a great player again, then he will leave again to a club.
- Andriy Shevchenko - What a waste of money, He will leave by the season’s end and I do think he may go home in January, Likely AC Milan will be where he goes and Chelsea will try a Sheva + 20 Mil for Kaka since both Avram and Roman like him and want him at the ‘Bridge…. Barcelona MAYBE… no not at all, the only reason for that would be an exchange for Ronaldinho but Varca have enough strikers, so he will go to AC Milan.
- Frank Lampard - Franky Lampard in my mind, I cannot see him at all at another club besides Chelsea in my head, Really a move to Real Madrid would be the likely destination, I think he will stay put for another 2 or so seasons but, all Chelsea fans; He will not be there forever and soon he will go, 4 seasons max then we will see the back of Lampard..
- Shaun Wright Phillips - Going, Going, GONE!!…. But who to? Ian wants both Shaun and younger bro’ Bradley at the Arsenal but I cannot really see SWP playing for us, and he will not fit in very well.. And I really think we do not need any more wingers any more since Hleb and Clichy are playing well on there wings… He might come to Arsenal though…. I can see him staying in the PL and I think a big club will defintly want him… Spurs? Since Jol likes them young and English or maybe a return to his old club Man City could be possible.
- Joe Cole I really think will stay at Chelsea, both the club and himself wanna be together for as long as they can be, and Avram wants him to stay and Joe wants to stay put. If he left though I am thinking a move to Spain or Italy, Or a lower team like Newcastle (sorry Geordies) since i cannot seeing a Big 4 club buying him off Chelsea.
[…] Drogba Wants To Leave Chelsea […]
And that’s how the cookie crumbles.Ha ha ha.Did last long.So i guess ARSEnal are the ones to take up the challenge of stopped the MANUTD juggernaut.
Seriously KyleAusGooner, don’t even comment about possible transfer moves at Stamford Bridge, because you’re way off on your predictions:
There is absolutely no way that AC Milan is selling Kaka to Chelsea for 20 million + Shevchenko. I nearly died laughing after I read that. By all accounts, Kaka will be named Player of the Year by FIFA, Shevchenko will be awful again, and Shevchenko could be offered with 60 million and AC Milan wouldn’t take the deal.
Shaun Wright Phillips is not leaving. That would leave Chelsea with two wingers, and SWP has been in great form for club and country this year. This also made me die laughing.
To everyone suggesting Drogba has a serious chance of going to Old Trafford: Seriously, wise up. Drogba has as much of a chance of going there as pigs growing wings tomorrow and flying. Drogba has repeatedly said that he wants to go to Italy or Spain, preferably Italy, and Chelsea would not sell its star striker to its Mancunian rivals for the Premiership.
I agree there is no way Drogba is going to any other major Prem side…remember the Heinze saga?
…and nowadays, as much as I want to say that when you sign a K with a club, you’re there for the club and not the manager, that just doesn’t seem to the reality. With the money these players are being paid/offered, and the other clubs that sniff around when they hear that a player is unhappy, if there is a buy out clause in their K, it makes it less and less likely that players will stay as loyal to the club as they probably should. I think its going to be a huge loss to the Prem as well. But if Drogba has the money to get out and there are clubs that will take him, then he should just leave. I can see him aiming to be wherever Mourinho ends up. Its just sad to see that players aren’t committed to the club or the league as much as they are the manager.
With more options (aka money) for these players, I think we can expect to see more of this happening…as unfortunate as it may be, it is sort of a “lesson” to Abramovich and other players who may be eying Chelsea: basically, you are coached by two people, even if one knows essentially nothing about how to manage. Players cannot possibly be comfortable with that.
Ballack might be the next to leave…he hasn’t really even been there much to begin with, and it doesn’t look like management misses him much. I really don’t see Kaka going anywhere…esps since he is close with Shevechenko and it looks like Sheve’s move hasn’t worked out that great either. Chelsea really has an uphill battle now. As much as I loathe that team, its a loss to the league, which is never good.
[…] you read SoccerLens regularly you’ll know about the controversial article about Drogba â€کWhoring’ himself out (not my words :D); the striker of course said he would leave Chelsea even if Kaka and Ronaldinho […]
if drogba leaves to barca, ronnie will probably go the other way.
