Dong makes it 7 strikers for Manchester United
It has recently been confirmed that China international Dong Fangzhou has finally secured his work permit and will be on his way to United in January. The talented 21 year old striker will be bolstering Manchester United’s attacking options alongside Rooney, Rossi, Saha, Smith and Ole.
It’s been a long wait (3 years - he joined in January 2004 for 3.5 mil), but he will soon be given the opportunity to fight for his squad place.
He’s currently on loan to Royal Antwerp playing alongside defenders Jonny Evans and Danny Simpson, two quality defenders. He will return from his loan in January and along with returnee Rossi and loan signing Larsson will make it 7 strikers for Manchester United - at least we’ve got backup now

looks like sir fergie is on a striker and goalkeeper collection spree..here is my assessment of the strikers we have..
Rooney—best choice as the second striker in a 4-4-2..but in CL matches, why is he played at left back..
Rossi—has talent no doubt…but a finished material, i’ve some doubts..depending on his form, he can be first choice for FA cup..
Saha–the only genuine first choice striker we have..he gets injured, we r in for big trouble..one or 2 matches, ronaldo can do it..but ore thn tht, i’m doubtfull..
Smith– he is too gud a character, but off late, i have seen so much missing in him..hope he does well…otherwise , will be sold..
Ole- 20legend will retire in a year or 2..fergies expects 20 goals from ole..i have doubts..may be 15..
Larsson–have been a long time fan..was a gr8 striker in his times..but i’ve some doubts whether he can still make an impact..
Dong–we r not playing carling cup anymore..so he will be used as a backup striker in FA cup..and will mostly spend time for the reserves..and could be loaned again..
leaving rooney and saha, we don’t have anybody to come on and feel absolutely comfortable..
you got to admit, the kid looks good. He’s good at playing off the last defender, making runs. He is can shoot from distance and use his head, looks like the complete package. He has had a few years to get some experience and i wouldnt be surprised if next season Fergie keeps Rossi and loans out Dong to a Premiership club. Futures looking bright.
I disagree with u Azam in parts, here is what i think:
Rooney - Second best striker (no-doubt), when he’s having a good game, he scores a few goals, everyone should no that.
Solskjaer - Yes he is a legend and I am sure that he should score around 20 goals if he gets started in games not brough on the field with ten minutes to play.
Saha - No doubt he is our best, when injured he is not but at all times, our deadliest.
Larsson - Was a great deal, he should get around 5-6 goals while he is here. In his last season he scored around 40 goals in 36 games so that is good.
Rossi - Other than Dong, our best young talents, he is good, not in the best of form, maybe loan him out to a team in Spain so he can learn a bit.
Smith - I would say to get rid of him, playing crap, United don’t like crap players.
Dong - Good in speed and skills, good choice for a FA Cup or one leg of a champions league as a substitute.
THIS IS THE ORDER I WOULD CHOOSE FOR STRIKERS:
1. Saha
2. Rooney
3. Solskjaer
4. Larsson
5. Dong
6. Rossi
7. Smith
Dong is wicked man! I’d put him third in order for forwards, you should see that goal! Rooney, I’d put second an Saha first.
well i have seen Dong in action n i have to addmitt the kid has power n strengh to out run any defender in the world. Altho as due to Henrik Larsson joinin on loan from Helsingborgs i think was a clever idea, the reason is due to Dong gaining his playin time again for the reserves to get a run out to be ready, he may come on as a sub on the final day of larssons departure.
Wow! This guy looks cool! Especially with the music. Well, this guy is pretty good at shooting from short and long distances and I think he should make his debut for Man u soon.I think he’ll be alright as a substitute.
This is my comment on man u’s strikers:
Larsson: Great striker and his goal for man u against Aston Villa was superb but he’s 35 now and he’s only on loan so we can’t rely on him.
Rooney: Brilliant footballer and I think hes the nest striker in Man u. Hes definitely the first choice for the FA cup. And also, hes young so we can rely on him for the future of MAnchester Utd.
Saha: I’d put him second in rank of the strikers behind Rooney but he’s great. As Azam said, it WOULD BE A disaster if he was injured.
Solskjaer: Good player but he’s getting really old so we can’t rely on him for the future of MAn u.
Dong: TAlented young man and his future is bright. His goals are wicked especially the long distance ones. He and ROoney might be the first choice first team striker in the years to come as they are both young.
Rossi: Good striker and he’s very young. He needs to impove more to be able to be able to play in the first team for man u alongside players such as Rooney. I think he should be loaned to team somewhere like italy for some more experience.
SMith: Not sure about him, hes an ok striker but he could be sold or loaned.
