Done Deal? Chelsea Agree to Sign €60m striker

Share

Well, it’s time for another bombshell from the Spanish media.

Over the past 12 months, we at Soccerlens have lost count of the number of times, British tabloids and newspapers reported Chelsea’s interest in Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, with many claiming their stories (how silly it looks) as ‘Exclusive’.

Diego Costa1 Done Deal? Chelsea Agree to Sign €60m striker

Spanish media rather has concentrated more on the future of Thibaut Courtois. While the Blues are still not ready to embrace the Belgian as their first choice keeper at the moment, Atletico are keen to secure his services.

Back in December, El Confidencial, reported that Atletico boss Diego Simeone is willing to allow Costa to complete a move to Stamford Bridge – but only if Courtois goes the other way.

Talking about Exclusives, just how silly and ridiculous it is for Daily Star to claim this story as their own in February, when they simply rehashed the story published in Spain (as you can see), two months earlier!

Now, the same Spanish newspaper that has a strong connection with Real Madrid, claims that Chelsea have already agreed a deal to sign the highly rated striker, who has scored 26 league goals this season.

The last two seasons (including the present campaign) has been phenomenal for the 25-year-old, as a result of which, his release clause soared high to €60m. The newspaper claims – a) Chelsea have agreed a deal with the Rojiblancos b) are willing to pay his €60m release clause.

Chelsea have issues with the strikers and Jose Mourinho has openly revealed his frustrations on more than one occasions this season. The Blues are expected to invest heavily in the market for a striker, while all of their present strikers could be sold.

To be honest, I can see the deal is happening in the summer, irrespective of the fact Atletico win the La Liga or the Champions League The money Atletico could receive for the player is huge which will help Simeone to rebuild the squad again.

For Costa, testing himself at a different league is as tempting as the big money offer Chelsea would put on the table.

Do inform us, if any British tabloid claims it as an ‘Exclusive’ next time!

  2. Is Diego Costa the best striker in world football? I say no.
Chelsea should be careful before splashing the cash. They should remember what happened about Fenando Torres.
    Once beaten, twice shy.

    Get well soon! Up cfc

  8. Diego is a very good striker, but does cannot be valued at 60mill,I fyk he has been overhyped

  9. Point well noted, ernesto. The contract sum quoted is too much. The hype is too much. Plus, this is his first season under the spotlight. This is first season he’s scored 20+ goals. Falcao was proven over 3 seasons before his mega buy by Monaco. So was Cavani at Napoli. I feel that chelsea are too rash when it comes to their striker purchases. We’ve had way too many of these problems.

  10. Costa is good, but the money is too much

  11. Good point, lanny. I ve re-posted your comment to give it the attention it deserves.

  12. the amount tht chelsea payed for costa is too much expensive. diego costa is not the best striker in the world, like for me i prefer we bring back didier drogba or samuel eto’o lead the attack for chelsea.

  13. Bring on coasta

  14. Costa is good for chelsea if only he wil do want chelsea whch is scorng goals

  15. coasta is a good striker, but 60m is much for him……I”m suggesting that chelsea should pay 35m to 40m

  19. Chelsae shud take time 2 scout him very well, both @ Trainings. Cos Torres shud be a big lesson. Lukaku n Costa cud make a gud partner or back-up. Thank u 4ur time El-nino

  20. I agree with some of you. Diego is a good striker but the question is, can he continue to score in England? If chelsea can get him for 40 million and bring back Lukaku then sell torres and ba. Then resign Eto for another year. The three will bring trophies at standford briege.

  21. Costa is a very good striker but the money is tooo much

  22. I think Diego is superb player no doubt about that, but paying 60m for the player is unfair meaning is too much, paying this amount of money, is going to put a lot of pressure on the player and much would be expected from him and as a result…….

  23. Everyone knows costa is very good but 60m is too much if only eto can come back they’ll make trophies and standford briege 4 real.

  24. Costa is a good player but the cash to part with is too much.why cant chelsea purchase a player who we can shape and develop as the case was with the legendary Didier?
