If you see his interviews from last January-March, when asked about the Sheikh he seemed 'excited', but when asked about the Americans he was overly nonchalant. Also he, like everyone connected with Liverpool FC, feels betrayed that hicks and Gillet have gone against their promise of not borrowing against the clubs future earnings. My problem about spending all this money is this though, after £50m, if your manager still needs more money to rebuild, then what has he spent the money on? Okay, you're going to say to me we've made the majority of that money back from UEFA CL revenue and so forth but at the end of the day, he should have built his squad by now. Also Benitez wanted a centre-back and he gambled on Heinze, which was always risky. He should have had the back-up in place, and that decision has cost him now that he has Daniel Agger on the sidelines. But there's my viewpoint in any case, sorry about the longish post. Rafa called on the owners(publicly) to act fast after the CL final loss. Which wasnt very proper. He was given the proverbial war-chest but doesnt seem very happy with it. As for the new stadium, Gillet and Hicks are not Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to fund an expensive lineup and at the same time build a completely new 60,000 plus capacity stadium with 5 star ratings.
